Atalanta full-back warns Milan ahead of crucial clash: “We are playing for Europe”

By Isak Möller -

Thanks to their comeback win against Hellas Verona last night, AC Milan are now just four points away from the Scudetto. They will face Atalanta in their next game and one of the Bergamo side’s full-backs has sent a warning.

Milan need to clinch four points at most from the remaining two games to clinch the league title, but it obviously depends on the results of Inter. In any case, the Rossoneri will have to have full focus on the games against Atalanta and Sassuolo.

While Atalanta aren’t in the race for a Champions League spot anymore, they still want to clinch Europa League or, worst case, Conference League qualification. This was made clear by their full-back Davide Zappacosta in an interview with Sky Italia.

“We have to think about ourselves. Milan are playing for the Scudetto, but we are playing for Europe. It will be a difficult match in Milan. We cannot lose confidence, when we play and there is personality, we have excellent matches and create a lot. We cannot lose confidence,” he stated as cited by MilanNews.

The game between Milan and Atalanta is scheduled for 18:00 this Sunday and it should be a great atmosphere at San Siro, seeing as the game is sold out. The small portion of tickets that were released last week sold out immediately, once again confirming the great enthusiasm among the fans.

  1. Go and ask your predecessors how it feels to face Milan Lions. You will surely have your own share of the defeat Mr zapa.

  2. If leao and theo will continue to play for the team and not try score from narrow angle, I believe Milan defeat Atalanta.

    1. I do not disagree, but with Leao being marked by two , he has great opportunities to get an assist from that narrow angle, the same applies to Theo, but he is always more central anyway. Theo is maximized when he plays for Milan with the same freedom that Deschamps allows for him with the French National Team, just look at those stats.
