Marco Sportiello has an agreement with AC Milan for next season, as his contract will expire in the summer, but lately there had also been reports of a January move. This has now been shut down by Atalanta.
Sportiello is currently under contract at Atalanta and while he isn’t expected to extend the deal, he will stay there until the very end. Amid the goalkeeping crisis, Milan had evaluated the idea of bringing him in already in January, as per several reports.
However, speaking to Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Atalanta’s sporting director Tony D’Amico firmly ruled out an early exit for Sportiello. He stated that the goalkeeper has a contract with the club and that there has been no contact with Milan.
“It’s been talked about in the newspapers, we’ve never had any contact with Milan so Sportiello is an Atalanta player and will remain an Atalanta player,” he stated.
Sportiello will join Milan in the summer, therefore, as Ciprian Tatarusanu and Antonio Mirante both will depart then. The Rossoneri will thus have Mike Maignan, Sportiello and potentially Devis Vasquez (a loan might be on the cards) as the goalkeepers.
Lol. Wasn’t there someone who previously commented that the deal was done. And here the director is saying they haven’t contacted Milan as yet. I swear u can’t believe anything
