Chelsea are in advanced talks to secure the signing of Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva on a free transfer, a report claims.
The future of Thiago Silva is a subject that is attracting a lot of attention as he will captain PSG in Sunday’s Champions League final in what will strangely be his last game for the club as things stand, with his contract due to expire.
Fabrizio Romano reported for Calciomercato.com last night that the 35-year-old ‘would be thrilled’ to be able to wear the Milan shirt again.
However, he apparently became aware that the Rossoneri management have other plans and will not make another investment in player over 30 after the effort made to lure Zlatan back.
Nonetheless, The Athletic are now reporting that Chelsea have swooped and are now in advanced discussions with the entourage of the 35-year-old as they look to reinforce their back line.
They claim Silva has been in talks with Chelsea about a free transfer to Stamford Bridge for several days, but a deal is not yet done as there are things still to be resolved such as contract length.
