La Razon: Atletico Madrid and Liverpool prepare swap bids for €30m Milan ace

By Oliver Fisher -

A report in Spain has claimed that two clubs are ready to begin talks over a swap deal for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

Kessie’s contract expires at the end of the season and there is nothing at the moment to suggest that a renewal is imminent. Given the anger at how Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu walked away for nothing, the management are under pressure to secure a return or to renew him.

La Razon in Spain write that Milan would be obliged to negotiate Kessie’s exit if they do not want him to end up leaving for free and LaLiga champions Atlético de Madrid want to beat the competition from PSG and Liverpool.

They could try to sign him in January and though an asking price of €30m has already been set for the winter, Atlético could include Héctor Herrera in the operation to lower the price. Liverpool for their part could put the profile of Thiago Alcántara on the table.

  1. Im surprised that Atletico didnt laugh off the valuation of 30M. But perhaps 15M + Herrera is solid deal. Thiago is unrealistic, because his salary, I presume, is similar to what Kessie wants, so there is no point signing him.
