The chances of Milan signing Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli do not seem high currently while Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future is still uncertain, a journalist has claimed.
It promises to be yet another fascinating but difficult summer for Milan given the chaos that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused, with a number of areas to address and rumours of another revolution being on the cards.
Milan do however face another difficult crossroads regarding the future of Donnarumma just as they did back in 2017. With his deal set to expire in 2021, they must either agree a renewal ahead of next season or sell him this summer, so as to at least generate a transfer fee from his sale.
Sky Italia journalist Manuele Baiocchini spoke to MilanNews regarding the situation regarding the Italy international and what the future holds for him.
“In my opinion, nothing changes. The contractual situation puts Milan in a difficult position, because Gigio expires in 2021, so in February of next year he would be free to sign for another team,” he began.
“The Rossoneri must try to manage this situation in the shortest possible time, whether you want to renew the contract or want to monetize the transfer of the player.
“You have to start moving now. A team that decides to try sign a champion like Donnarumma will have to make contact with Milan shortly and not beyond the summer.”
Baiocchini then discussed the rumours surrounding Arkadiusz Milik, with some outlets claiming that Milan have made him their No.1 target to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and have already begun talks with his agent.
“I think it’s all a little too far ahead. First there is the fact that Ibra must leave the club, then the fact that Milan likes Milik and finally the fact that Napoli wants to sell Milik,” he said.
“And De Laurentiis, who in this season has focused heavily on him, I do not think is of this opinion. He is a very strong striker and at Milan he could also do well, but at the moment I do not see this prospect.”
