Expressions of interest arrived from Barcelona for Rafael Leao over the summer, and a future attempt cannot be excluded at the moment as per a report.
It was reported by both the Spanish and Italian press in August that Barcelona had turned to Leao once they knew that they would not be able to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, although a deal of that magnitude was always going to be very difficult to pull off with their economic tightrope.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have published a report today about Leao’s difficult recent period with Milan, including what the management are planning to do to get him back to full confidence, and the implications that it might have if he is unable to get out of his rut.
As per the paper, any thoughts regarding Leao’s future ‘do not go beyond the next match’ which is Bologna away from home on Saturday, and the reason for that is because he is locked in a battle with Noah Okafor for a starting spot.
If anything, it is his agent that would look around. Last summer ‘some signals had arrived from Barcelona’ before CEO Giorgio Furlani ruled out a sale, but the Catalan side ‘remain in financial crisis’. If they were to resolve their economic problems, then they may well try again.
However, it is an idea just as any mention of interest from other clubs would be, and there is only one option on the table at the moment: to get back to being in the best possible form for Milan.

Leao is Milan’s best player and most important asset and that’s a fact, I have said it before and will have to reiterate that, he needs special man to man management just like Cappelo has said, and that’s what great managers do with players, like Ferguson made Eric Cantona a United legend.

It’s a shame, but he will never became a superstar. He has a wrong character and attitude. You need to be hard working to became one. He is to arrogant for it. His speed and dribbling ist superb but everything als is average. Passig, shooting etc.
