Baresi not feeling any ‘anxiety’ about the Europa League draw: “I’m curious”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s honorary vice-president Franco Baresi has insisted that he is feeling excited rather than anxious about the upcoming Europa League quarter-final draw.

Milan booked their place in the last eight thanks to a 7-3 aggregate win against Slavia Praha. After a 4-2 victory at San Siro, the job was completed in the Czech capital last night thanks to a 3-1 triumph.

The Rossoneri will find out their opponents for the quarter-finals during today’s Europa League draw in Nyon, and there are certainly some teams that are more daunting than others on paper.

However, in order to be crowned the best than you have to beat the others who are considered among the contenders, and that is why Baresi is not feeling too nervous.

Baresi spoke to PianetaMilan as he arrived for the inauguration of Spazio Fontanelli, an area with playing fields financed by the Milan Foundation.

“Today is a special day. With the Milan Foundation we are proud and happy to have created this space in this neighbourhood, sport is very important for young people and children,” he said.

“We are also proud to have named it after Davide Astori. I met him, an extraordinary boy, who knew how to transmit important values and who can be an inspiration to many young people.

“We’re waiting for the draw. It’s a positive moment, then we look ahead. I don’t have any anxiety about the draw, I’m curious.”
