Baresi praises the job Maldini has done as a director: “Milan have grown a lot”

By Oliver Fisher -

Franco Baresi has praised the work that his former team-mate Paolo Maldini is doing as the technical director of AC Milan.

Maldini returned to Milan when Elliott Management took control of the club back in 2018 and in 2019 be was promoted to the role of technical director, essentially giving him the final say on recruitment and of course a big hand in negotiations over potential signings along with sporting director Ricky Massara.

The former club captain has received big praise for his work so far in spotting talents such as Ismael Bennacer, Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori, Brahim Diaz, Alexis Saelemaekers and others, helping push forward with the youth project that Elliott want to deploy.

Baresi spoke to Dazn about the work as that Maldini is doing off the field to drag the Rossoneri back to being one of the elite sides in Europe, with his statements relayed by MilanNews.

“Maldini entered with great enthusiasm. He is making available all his experience as a footballer but also his ideas and the competence he is showing as a director,” he said.

“He is doing a good job and Milan have grown a lot. We can do well this year, we did very well last year in the league and we are back in the Champions League where we hope to do well.”
