Vitiello: Belotti ‘not at the top of the list’ of striker targets in Milan’s plans

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will not be heavily pursuing a move for Andrea Belotti on a free transfer before looking into other options, according to Antonio Vitiello.

Belotti has been linked with a move to his boyhood club Milan for several years now, but this summer coming might represent the best timing of that period because the striker’s contract will expire at the end of the season and the Rossoneri have been credited with interest in signing him on a free.

However, according to what Vitiello of MilanNews told his YouTube channel (via Francesco Nasato), Belotti is ‘not at the top of the list’ of strikers in Milan’s plans for the summer transfer window.

It may well be therefore that the dream never comes true for il Gallo, who is still likely to have a good range of clubs to pick from given his free transfer status and his goalscoring record in Serie A over the past few seasons.

  1. I agree, our money will go into sanchez, botman and diaz and hopefully a strong right winger. don’t think we have funds to pull a big money striker deal on top of that

  2. Missing out on a free transfer for Belotti would be one of the dumbest things this managment could do, together with loosing Donarumma and Hakan for free last summer. Gettine Belotti for free means that they will have the ST position fixed for free for years to come, and they can invest in other areas like RW at the moment. Which is another problematic position in the team.

    1. Signing Belotti for free seems like a no brainer. A quality RW should be priority nr. one, and Renato Sanchez is a must buy.

But i don’t agree that losing Donnaruma and Calhanoglu was a mistake by the management.
The first had ridiculous salary demands (also, Maignan is a brilliant signing) , the other just wanted to leave himself.

      1. Loosing 95mil is always a mistake mate, no matter how we look at it. The situation was handed very poorly, even if they sold Donna/Hakan below price a year earlier, that would have still been a much better outcome for us then loosing them for nothing.

        1. You do not understand…no one was buying Donnarumma as no one wanted to pay him more

He came to psg for free and still makes less than our offer

          1. PSG offered around 30mil for him two years before.. But Milan decided to keep him and extend his contract. Which in the end they failed to do, so he left for free. That’s Milan’s mistake. You don’t wait till the last day for a player to sign his new contract, either he renews at least a year before, or you sell him.

        2. Only big club like PSG, MU, or Real or so that have money and prestige to sign him, but they already had the position filled for next few years, that’s why to prolong his stay would mean that pay him and his agent a lot of money with this drama would repeatedly happen next year (he only willing to sign 2-3 year extension).
Not only that, his stay means that the club goes against their 4 mil salary cap and could distrupt the implementation. The other player that outside the salary cap, Ibra, was meant to stay 1 or 2 years top.

        3. The bunch of nonsense coming from you is ridiculous. Getting into CL meant more than earning some cash from the sale of those players. IT IS WORTH MORE IN MONEY. Of course they should have signed the contracts befrore and solved the situation, but this whole thing was created by Mirabelli and giving Donnarumma such a big contract at that age, along with his brother getting 1M per season. That is the issue, not trying to cut costs on wages of idiots.

          1. With all the respect mate that’s just false. Getting into Champions league brings 50mil. Donna himself was worth 60mil at the time when he left. Hakan 35mil. But even if we sold Donna to PSG for just 30mil two years before, we would have still made it to the CL same as we are now without him and Hakan.. We would have only ended up with extra funds from the sales. I agree about Mirabeli and Fasone they started the whole mess, however the new managment resolved it very poorly.
