Bennacer reveals why Pioli is ‘making the difference’ as AC Milan boss

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer believes he is ‘getting better and better’ under the guidance of head coach Stefano Pioli.

Having joined from Empoli over the summer, Bennacer began working with Marco Giampaolo who was the then-manager, but he was sacked after just seven games.

The Algeria international struggled to find playing time to begin with as the more experienced Lucas Biglia was preferred, but under Pioli he is now one of the first names on the team sheet.

Bennacer put in another energetic performance in Sunday night’s win over Bologna, scoring a 6.5/10 in our player ratings for the game.

The travelling support saw Milan run out 3-2 victors thanks to goals from Krzysztof Piatek, Theo Hernandez and Giacomo Bonaventura enough to fire the team back into the top half of the table.

Bennacer spoke to Milan TV after the victory at the Stadio Renato dell’Ara, with his words being transcribed by MilanNews.it.

“I’m fine, we won which is the most important thing. I’m growing and I’m getting better and better,” he said.

On Pioli: “He is stimulating us on everything, he talks a lot with us. He is doing a great job with us too. This makes the difference.”
