Bild journalist believes Milan have key advantage over Liverpool, Leipzig in pursuit of winger

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan may have a distinct advantage in the race for Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica due to Ralf Rangnick’s imminent arrival, it is claimed.

Di Marzio reported on Monday night that Rangnick has informed Milan that he wants Rashica to help reinforce the club’s attacking options, and MilanNews then confirmed that Milan are indeed interested in signing the Kosovo international.

Rashica – who has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season – will be allowed to leave Bremen for just €15million after they were relegated from the Bundesliga. His previous release clause was €30m.

The Daily Mirror meanwhile believe Liverpool are interested, as are Wolves, Aston Villa and Southampton. They also claim that Werder are set to contest the €15m clause, believing it has already expired as it was set by date and not the end of the season which was extended due to the ongoing pandemic.

MilanNews spoke to BILD journalist Valentina Maceri to get the latest updates on Rangnick’s arrival at Milan and in particular on Rashica’s situation.

“The Rossoneri will give him about €75million budget for the market, in addition to the players mentioned above [Upamecano and Schick] there is also talk of Werder’s Rashica, who risks falling into the second division,” she said.

“He will leave Werder Bremen 100% and Rangnick knows him very well and he has good relations with his agent.

“They need a miracle to save themselves, for Dusseldorf to lose and they win – difficult. Rashica is very promising, they say he could go to Milan – Milan are very interested and Rangnick knows him well.”
