Manchester United are in talks over the signing of Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Milan have left it late regarding Calhanoglu’s renewal as his current deal expires in June 2021 – just seven months away – and as a result speculation has begun to grow that a number of teams are beginning to circle.
In our exclusive interview with Falk, he revealed that there is a ‘90% chance’ that Calhanoglu joins Premier League giants Manchester United on a free transfer. He has now confirmed that the talks are ongoing, but that there is no agreement yet.
“At the moment the player’s entourage is talking to Manchester United, but there is no agreement yet,” he said (via MilanNews).
Meanwhile, Falk also commented on the future of Ozan Kabak who was a concrete target during the summer transfer window but Schalke ultimately hung onto him.
It is believed that Milan are still keen on landing the 20-year-old Turkey international, and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) reported earlier today that he will be the big signing to reinforce the back line, but that Milan would like to spend less than €15m to sign him.
Falk, though, has revealed that the Rossoneri management have competition from England.
“On Kabak there is Liverpool, at the moment the Reds are considering whether to sink the blow during the winter transfer market,” he said.
