Bild: Rashica could join Milan for €20m; Rangnick may raid Salzburg – an insight on his arrival

By Oliver Fisher -

Incoming AC Milan boss Ralf Rangnick is likely to try and hijack the moves of RB Leipzig and Salzburg for some of their targets, it is claimed.

Sky Italia recently confirmed that Rangnick has already signed a deal with Milan and CEO Ivan Gazidis has informed Maldini of the arrival of the German.

What it means for the future of other key figures at the club such as directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara remains to be seen, but what seems certain is that Milan are ready to launch into yet another new era.

Christian Kynast of Bild spoke to MilanNews about the arrival of Rangnick and the players he may target, and began by discussing how the move is perceived in Germany.

“In my opinion and from what I’m reading, the Germans are happy when there are successful German coaches abroad like Jürgen Klopp in Liverpool. Rangnick is considered a great coach in Germany,” he said.

“I think Rangnick would be perfect for Milan. He has a lot of experience and knows how to bring a club to success. In addition, Rangnick is known for his great ability to bring unripe talents to be top established players.

“This could be the right strategy for Milan to compete with clubs like Juventus that, financially speaking, have a different budget than the Rossoneri.

“Rangnick’s game is based on very fast counter-attacks and great speed so his football is undoubtedly a lot of fun to watch. His teams do not usually dominate the opponent but take advantage of the mistakes to go to the shooting quickly and punish without mercy ”

On whether the 62-year-old will try raid his former clubs Leipzig or Salzburg, he added: “I think Rangnick probably has some hesitation in buying Leipzig players.

“However, he knows which players the two clubs are viewing and this could be an advantage and therefore could ‘parade’ some talents followed by Leipzig and Salzburg. Also, I absolutely don’t rule out that Rangnick tries to buy some Salzburg players instead.”

On Milan’s pursuit of Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica, Kynast offered some encouragement.

“Rashica is a great talent and Leipzig are in pole position to buy it. He is a very expensive player, in fact Werder Bremen are asking for 20 million for the player. If Milan intend to pay this amount, it would have a great chance to buy it.”

Milan have also been linked with Patrik Schick, a player Leipzig have the chance to sign permanently.

“Leipzig would like to negotiate another loan but Roma want to sell permanently. The German club are unable to spend 20 million, or the amount requested by the Giallorossi but if the price were to drop then Leipzig would buy it without any doubt ”

Who could be on Rangnick’s staff?

“Rangnick will surely bring trusted members of his previous staff. The names depend on whether he will be able to free some of them from the contracts they have with some Bundesliga companies. ”

Could Rangnick work with Ibrahimovic, given the Swede said in an interview that he does not know the German?

“I think that dealing with Ibrahimovic could be difficult for Rangnick because the German has never trained players with great personalities like Ibrahimovic who is a superstar.”
