Bocchetti urges his Verona side to ‘give everything’ in ‘fundamental’ Milan clash

By Isak Möller -

Former AC Milan player Salvatore Bocchetti was announced as the new manager of Hellas Verona earlier today. His first task will be difficult, taking on his former club on Sunday evening.

The former defender has replaced Gabriele Cioffi at the helm of Verona, having been the manager of the Primavera manager up until now. It’s his first job as the head coach of a senior side and it will be interesting to see what he can do.

Verona have claimed just five points this season and Bocchetti is well-aware that the situation is dire. Speaking at his presentation, as cited by MilanNews, he admitted that the clash against Milan is absolutely fundamental for them.

“How is the team? I can’t say for sure so early, at least I have a bit of experience with them. We have many injuries and a few suspensions, but we have to roll up our sleeves and give everything, because for us it’s a fundamental match. Then, when the injured players return, so be it,” he stated.

Milan are obviously the clear favourites and will be eager to bounce back from the controversial 2-0 loss against Chelsea mid-week. The Rossoneri are currently three points behind Napoli and thus need to keep up with them.
