With Sergio Conceicao heading towards an exit, Vincenzo Italiano was linked as a possible replacement for AC Milan, however, no move was ever made.
There were a few questions about Milan and Italiano towards the end of the season, and even around the Coppa Italia, with it being suggested that it was a game of fates, with a possible replacement rumoured. However, the Rossoneri hired Massimiliano Allegri instead. But why?
No hope for Italiano
The simple fact was that Italiano was content with Bologna, and despite rumours that he was waiting for the Diavolo’s interest to materialise, nothing ever seemed to show. So, he renewed easily, with no issues in doing so.
Milan, to their credit, acted quickly and brought in Allegri, who is an expert in Serie A. A different profile, yes, however, still a very good option and a welcomed one. Today, Bologna’s CEO Claudio Fenucci has spoken about the interest from Milan in Italiano, and Alfredo Pedulla has relayed his words.
“Milan? Nothing happened. The reality is that, after the end of the championship, we sat down to extend the relationship and give a sense of planning to our journey. Mister Italiano wanted the same thing and has always said that he is happy in Bologna.

“To extend a relationship, you have to talk about concrete things, beyond the desire to stay together. We sat down and made a decision over dinner. I don’t know if there were other interests, no one ever contacted us, and everyone was correct.”
His agent just needed some rumors to negotiate his wage.
