Bologna director confirms Milan have abandoned pursuit of Arnautovic

By Isak Möller -

Marko Arnautovic was heavily linked with AC Milan up until the sacking of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. Since then, it has been very quiet on that front and Bologna’s sporting director has explained why.

With the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maldini and Massara wanted a new experienced striker for the squad and had set their sights on Arnautovic. However, then they were sacked by the Rossoneri.

In an interview with Etv, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Bologna’s sporting director Giovanni Sartori has more or less confirmed that Milan have abandoned the pursuit. The new management, in fact, is not interested in the Austrian.

“We’ll see along the way if there’s still a chance to keep Arnautovic. There was the Milan option but with the change of management, things have changed. If he stays, let’s hope he can give Bologna all the help he’s capable of,” he stated.

This past season, Arnautovic got 8 goals in 17 league games and was hoping for a ‘final chance’ at a big club. It won’t be Milan, though, with Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada having very different ideas.
