Bologna boss Motta admits Arnautovic could be allowed to leave amid Milan links

By Oliver Fisher -

Bologna boss Thiago Motta has hinted that he would not stand in the way of Marko Arnautovic if a team who can offer European competitions came knocking.

There could be a big summer overhaul for Milan in the attacking department with only Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud seemingly certain to stay at the moment, as the likes of Divock Origi, Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all potentially heading for the exit door.

Calciomercato.com are among the sources to report that Arnautovic is viewed as a potential replacement for Ibrahimovic given that he is 34 years of age, has experience in Serie A and also scores a good amount of goals (8 in 18 league matches this season).

Motta spoke during a press conference and he was asked about whether Arnautovic will play on Saturday against Cremonese as well as what the future might hold for him, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“I’ve already made the choice for Saturday, you’ll see it on Saturday. Marko, like everyone else, plays when he’s well, if he can be useful to the team,” he said.

“You’ve talked a lot about him, you’ve already put him in other teams while we’re thinking about the Cremonese. We don’t have any personal problems, they’re just technical choices, it’s just for what I see on the pitch and they’re chosen for the good of Bologna.

“If teams should come in for Arna – who is 34 years old – teams aiming or playing in Europe, I think that it is right, it would be right that he could have a great opportunity to play in it. In any case, if he is well and is useful for the team, he plays, period.”
