Bologna are interested in turning Tommaso Pobega’s loan into a permanent stay, but only on one condition.

As Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recall this morning, Pobega moved on loan with an option to buy from Milan to Bologna in the last summer transfer window. As we approach the end of 2024-25 however, his future remains a bit of a mystery.

Since February, the Milan academy product has not started and remaining on the bench against Verona and Napoli as an unused substitute. Then, last Sunday, he seized his chance by playing a good match at the Gewiss Stadium against Atalanta, despite the 2-0 loss.

Pobega has shown himself to be a reliable player for Vincenzo Italiano, a coach who had already had him under his command at Spezia years ago and who wanted him back at Bologna this season. With four goals and three assists in 24 games overall so far, he has had a positive impact.

Giovanni Sartori however plans to ask the Rossoneri management for a discount on the €12m option to buy agreed a few months ago. Given the Rossoblu are right in the race for the Champions League and the riches that brings, the season finale could be a big factor.

CorSport add that Bologna want keep him in the squad but not at the current cost, hence the plan to negotiation. Whether the attempt will be successful will be seen in the coming weeks, as well as if other players are mentioned like the Milan-linked Riccardo Orsolini.

  1. The ideal thing to do is to take him back, he is a versatile, physical and tactically strong player, any system we use next season, he would be useful, in a 343 system, he could play on the left wing as a direct competitor to Theo if he stays, if we use a 442, he could still be very useful as a left sided midfielder, he is also Italian and homegrown, this club needs to stop relying solely on external aquistions.

    1. It good to consider that he’s free and a comparable player (foreign, of course as it’s Milan after all) player would cost too much as we have so many holes to fix and no UCL money.

  2. If Conte comes we will be able to get the best out of him, he isn’t suited to playing 4-2-3-1. But this all hinges on who the coach is next season. If it is Allegri people are going to start hating him again as they did last season. Tomasso is a Mezzala not a mediano and that’s the mistake coaches make

  3. Keep tommaso, sell musah!!!! Bring in either Rovella or Ricci for regista to complete the midfield. Start Reijnders – Ricci / Rovella – Fofana in a midfield 3, with Zeroli, Tommaso and Bondo as rotation options.
