MN: Milan suffering from Brahim Diaz’s decline in performance level – he must find form

By Oliver Fisher -

There were a lot of unsavoury performances during AC Milan’s defeat to Napoli last night at San Siro, but criticism has once again been aimed at Brahim Diaz.

As MilanNews writes, the Rossoneri were far from efficient in the final third of the pitch and the declining performances of certain played like Brahim Diaz are part of the reason for this. The Spaniard started the season well, had a great impact, scored four goals in his first nine games and looked like he would have no problem taking the starting spot from the departed Hakan Calhanoglu.

However, the report notes how he is now a bit lost. Since his return to the field after Covid-19, the playmaker has not found the right consistency and in the last few games his performances have been so ineffective that it has become a question more than just condition.

In the last 6 league games Milan have collected only 7 points, and they are also missing goals from their attacking midfielder who must get back in shape immediately to revive the ambitions of the Rossoneri.

  1. this becoming disgusting ,milan is just quit and won’t say anything,u should start making lawsuits ,the referees does not respect us anymore, they think about us like about serie D team,u should insist on Davide Massa suspension

  2. He hasn’t lost form, he is the same player he has always been. The first three two months of the season had us playing Leao on the left and Rebic as striker, with a consistent Tonali. That set up helped to hide his deficiencies… Now that both players are injured you can see that the real Diaz is not as smart and agile as we thought…

No time for cheap deals, the management need to go all out in January if they want to achieve anything this season. Nobody knows if we’ll have a complete squad through out the second half of them season, with any injuries…. Right now, even top 4 is looking impossible.

    1. Called this a long time ago. When the tough gets going Pioli will fail us like he almost did last season. We have to stop playing a formation that highlights brahim and if pioli can’t learn to play anything else than we need to go big in January for an AM. Not a midfielder… not a defender… for those we can get cheap signings for depth to get by til January. What we need is a class AM.

    2. Keo, your understanding of soccer is way above, it’s true Brahim hasn’t lost form. He is trying so hard, it’s the coach that needs attention. He needs to change the system, if Krunic can play behind Zlatan and let Brahim play behind both in a 4 1 2 1 2 formation , we can see a different Brahim.

  3. This is on management. This is what happens when you let your starting number 10 leave (for free) and you don’t replace him with anybody. Brahim is a backup, a useful player to come off the bench. But now they have to start him every game because they have no other option. I’d like to be mad at Pioli, but really what choices does he have? This is the 4th best roster in Serie A. Not good enough.

  4. why piioli force 4231 when he doesn’t have wingers, right wingers are shamefull, left wingers all out injured, change formation ffs

  5. Tactics is the problem, remove Diaz, play 4-3-3. With 4-3-3 bring Pobega back, put him in there with Tonali and Bennacer after Kessie leaves. Leao-Rebic-Messias upfront once they are fit and stop playing long balls wtf. Ibra can’t be the focal point of the attack even though he scores for us but at this point we need another striker.

    1. @Bo you moron how you play 433 when uou dont hv any left winger available. This formation gonna be another problem when 2 of the 4 central midfs left for afcon.

      1. You could use Theo as left wing seeing as he sucks at defense anyways. Or they could use Theo and Florenzi as wingbacks. Play 3 cb’s Theo, Florenzi wingbacks. Kessie, Tonali in the midfield. Messias as Attacking Midfielder.
Giroud and Ibra up top. Or Leao and Ibra once Leao gets back. I think it suits their roster better anyways. Eliminates the weak spots of Krunic, Diaz and Saelemakers.
