Calabria says he ‘always believes’ in the Scudetto and De Ketelaere ‘needs to stay calm’

AC Milan defender Davide Calabria has made it clear that he always believes in the Rossoneri’s chances of winning the Scudetto and also discussed what Charles De Ketelaere needs to do.

Speaking to Sky Sport after the match against AS Roma on Sunday night (via Milan News), the Italian defender spoke very honestly about Milan and their Serie A title aspirations after dropping points.

Milan were two goals up against the Giallorossi in the 87th minute but then conceded twice from two set pieces and ended up drawing the game 2-2. That means that Napoli are now seven points clear again at the top of the table.

Calabria still feels that Milan can defend their title though, saying: “I always believe in it [the Scudetto], it’s still a long season. But we have to be aware that Napoli are pushing, Juve haven’t lost for eight games.

“If we want to fight for the Scudetto, we must no longer concede these goals. As I said last year we have to understand what to do when we grow up, if we want to compete for the Scudetto we have to bring these points home.”

He also passed comment on Belgian youngster Charles De Ketelaere who has been struggling to find his feet since joining the club from Club Brugge in the summer.

“Charles just needs to stay calm, isolate himself a bit more and not listen to outside voices. With the talent he has he can help the team a lot, what he does in training he can also do in the game,” Calabria said.

“He comes from a different league so obviously he needs time. I think this is the right team for him, he just has to have confidence and believe in himself that we are with him until the end.”
