Calabria lifts lid on working with Giampaolo, Gattuso and departure of Cutrone

By Oliver Fisher -

Davide Calabria was complimentary about both Gennaro Gattuso and Marco Giampaolo when asked about the two coaches.

Milan swapped managers this summer as part of a radical overhaul on and off the field, with Gattuso resigning after failure to crack the top four last season.

Giampaolo – who arrived from Sampdoria – has been with the Rossoneri for under a month, but Calabria has revealed he is already having an impact.

“They say he is a master,” he told Sky Italia.

“Only a month has passed, but we are very attentive about what he tells us.

“He is a maniac of details, we must always remain focused. I am confident for the new season.”

On Gattuso, he added: “He has always been happy with what I was doing, he has given me confidence and has always encouraged me to improve.

“He has helped me grow so much, in addition to making me play continuously. He has given me so much at the level of the head.”

Calabria’s good friend Cutrone, who he came up through the Primavera system with, departed for Wolves recently.

He sent an emotional tribute to the striker at the time, and again took the opportunity to wish him the best.

“Of course I miss him, I was sorry for his departure, but it’s something that is part of his growth.

“I felt it, he feels good there, he’s happy, I hope he can do well.”
