MN: Calabria was substituted at half-time against Napoli due to injury – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

There is yet more bad injury news for AC Milan as it has emerged that Davide Calabria was substituted due to a muscle injury in the defeat to Napoli.

It seemed as though Calabria was withdraw at half time for Sergino Dest in a tactical change given that Napoli’s danger man had already drawn a yellow card from the full-back as well as Simon Kjaer, who also made way at the interval with Pierre Kalulu coming on in his place.

According to MilanNews, the reason that Calabria was replaced at half-time in favour of Dest was because he suffered a muscle strain in his flexors.

He was not called up to the Italian national team and as a result will be able to stay at Milanello and recover under observation from the medical staff, with the hope of being fit enough to face Hellas Verona straight after the break.

  1. In a match like this, maybe (and just maybe) it’s better to replace him with Kalulu instead of a new rooster. Well, still better than the current Simone-Suicide tho.

    1. Consider the other aspect : Kjaer also got a yellow card, to dueling many dangerous & skillful Napoli forwards.
I think it was very logical to play Kalulu as CB (subs Kjaer) & Dest (subs injured Calabria).
But yes even Dest isn’t ready for this kind of important match, with our ACM complex tactic.

Or, can you imagine to play Gabbia as CB & Kalulu as RB ?

  2. Who did think Sergino Dest is better than Calabria, yesterday ?

This big game shows how important Calabria is for current ACM & Calabria is deserved to be 1st choice RB at ACM & Italy.
We know the real value of somebody when he wasn’t there anymore.

If Calabria didn’t injured & can continue full game, at least we will have a draw.

  3. Calabria is good player nothing more our best right back is Pierre Kalulu if you watch his france under 21 games you understand he is far better then Pierre Calabria

    1. Who cares about U21 games? If you watch and UNDERSTAND any Milan game you would know Calabria is Milan’s best option at right back. He is one of the best defensive right backs in the world. His job is not to push forward, that’s Theo’s.
