Defender Mattia Caldara has thanks AC Milan for his time at the club but insisted it was ‘time to return home’.
The 25-year-old centre-back has undergone medicals in Bergamo over the weekend ahead of sealing a return to La Dea, and a statement on Milan’s official website confirmed his departure.
Caldara joins Atalanta on an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy at the end of it, which brings to a conclusion a difficult spell with the Rossoneri where he suffered two serious injuries and made just two appearances.
The former Juventus man has sent a message to Milan on Instagram, stating: “Thanks Milan, still thanks. But it was time to go home.”
