Calhanoglu coy when questioned on Milan future but reveals: “I talked to Maldini three days ago”

By Oliver Fisher -

Hakan Calhanoglu has given little away about his future but did reveal that he spoke to AC Milan director Paolo Maldini earlier this week.

Calhanoglu’s contract will expire at the end of the month and he’s yet to make a decision on the renewal offer Milan have proposed. However, numerous sources have reported that there is still a difference between the offer on the table and what the former Leverkusen man wants to sign.

Therefore, it seems as though there is a risk of the 27-year-old leaving on a free transfer four years after he arrived from the Bundesliga, even if the feeling is that we have not heard the end of the saga just yet.

He spoke at a press conference on the eve of Turkey’s European Championship opener against Italy in Rome, and he was asked directly about his future amid the doubts over his contract situation.

“I talked to Maldini three days ago, he called me. We talked about Milan, I said I wanted to concentrate on the European Championship. They have the first responsibility, with great respect but I will always speak with Maldini and Massara,” he said (via TMW).
