Calhanoglu makes stance on Milan renewal clear: “I’m very happy to be here”

By Isak Möller -

Hakan Calhanoglu’s contract will expire at the end of the season and there has been no movement on the renewal lately. However, the No.10 sent a message to the Milan fans ahead of tonight’s clash against Cagliari.

Milan can secure their spot in the Champions League with three points tonight, making the game extremely crucial for the team. For next season, playing in that competition will help the Rossoneri loads on many fronts, such as the budget.

Speaking to Sky Italia ahead of the game (via MilanNews), Calhanoglu spoke about his renewal and his future with the red and black side. He made his stance very clear, stating that he has always wanted to play in the UCL with Milan.

“I’ve always said I want to play in the Champions League with Milan. My future does not depend on the Champions League, I’m very happy to be here and to play for Milan. In the end, we will decide my future with Paolo and Ricky, they are primarily responsible and I respect them,” he stated.

Hopefully, Stefano Pioli’s men will get the job done this evening as they won’t have a better chance to secure the UCL return. Furthermore, Cagliari have already secured salvation rendering tonight’s clash meaningless for them.

  1. Calhano-gtfo!
Inconsistent, no leadership even though been here for many seasons. Only reason to re-sign him is to sell him (still not worth it).
