Castillejo reflects on ‘strange’ first leg but Milan need to ‘react with a win’ tonight

By Isak Möller -

In less than 25 minutes, Milan will take on Red Star Belgrade in the second leg of the Europa League round of 32. After the loss to Inter in the derby, it will be important to bounce back with a win.

The first leg ended 2-2 as the Serbian side scored the equaliser in injury time, which was a shame as Milan had good control of the game before that. Samu Castillejo was one of the players that started last time out and will do so tonight as well.

The Spaniard was behind the first goal in Belgrade as his dangerous cross resulted in an own-goal and hopefully, he will have a good impact this time out as well. In an interview with MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, he was asked about the game.

How have you worked in the last days?

“We have worked well in these two days, the best way to react is with a win and advance to the next round. We must have a winning mentality.”

Where do you think you can hurt Red Star?

“It was a bit of a strange match, the result was not generous to us. Today will be a difficult match but as soon as we get on the pitch, our mentality will be that of a winner. After the two defeats, the most important thing would be a good victory today.”

After tonight’s clash, the Rossoneri will take on Roma away from home, which will be an extremely important game. They are still in second place, but they need all the points they can get to stay at the top.
