AC Milan and Inter are still being consulted about a possible San Siro renovation, and with UEFA tempted by the idea of a Champions League final at the stadium in years to come, a decision must be made soon.
San Siro is one of the most iconic stadiums in world football, and as a result, it comes as no shock that the stadium is being considered to host the pinnacle of European football’s top competition. However, work must be done for it to be a feasible opportunity.
According to Calcio e Finanza’s report (via Milan News), Inter and Milan are still evaluating the plans that WeBuild presented regarding the renovation possibilities for San Siro. However, things are continuing to move from the outside.
It is reported that the Milan City Council has approved the Documento Unico di Programmazione (DUP) 2025-2027, which allows guidance and strategy from local authorities, and within the programme, there is space dedicated to San Siro.
To go deeper into the plans, there are two focuses – the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and also the Champions League final – and there is a concrete possibility of the stadium hosting the competition final with UEFA identifying the ground as a potential host for the fixture.
However, this assignment has been suspended until September because several conditions must be met for the stadium to be suitable to hold the event. Most notably, the stadium must be modernised – similar to how it did for the 2016 final – so a decision must be made about the future of the stadium if hosting the final at San Siro is going to be a possibility.

We should play the UCL final in a vortex devoid of time, form and space. The beauty of that is that if it ever happens at any point in the future, then it also happened and is concurrently happening forever – the streaming companies will absolutely love that.
The US probably owns all the vortexes as well, so given their simultaneous lack of and infinite supply of land, one could technically claim it happened on US soil.
