Sandro Tonali signed his contract renewal in the afternoon yesterday and AC Milan announced it shortly after. Of course, the new terms of the contract have changed the figures on the balance sheet.
The midfielder was a key player for Milan last season and he has continued to do well this term. He gives everything on the pitch and it’s exactly the player the Rossoneri need in the midfield duo to complement Ismael Bennacer.

As explained by Calcio e Finanza, Milan paid €5m to loan Tonali in the summer of 2020 and ended up redeeming him for €10m the following year. The player signed a five-year deal worth €1.2m per year, lowering his initial salary to stay at the club.
In 2021/22, Tonali weighed €4.2m on the balance sheet between amortization (€2m) and gross salary (€2.2m). With the new contract, the figures for 2022/23 will instead be €1.2m for the amortization and €4.6 for the salary (a total of €5.8m).
