Tuttosport: Chance to realise a dream – Boca Juniors enter race for Gimenez

This morning, a report has suggested that Santiago Gimenez may leave AC Milan and head back to South America.

A lot has been said about the future of Gimenez, and very little has been said about his chances of staying. In fact, as of now, it seems that the exit is looming, unless something changes when he returns from injury.

The facts are clear for the Mexican. He has not performed for Milan in Serie A, and whilst his value is still high, the Rossoneri can cash in. Football can be a harsh game, and this is only one instance of that.

Boca in for Gimenez

Reports have suggested that the Premier League is the most likely destination at this moment, but it may not be the only one.

This morning, Tuttosport (via Radio Rossonera) reported that a move to South America could be on the cards, with Boca Juniors taking a look at the Mexican international. The Argentine club want a ‘high profile signing in attack’ and a loan move could be made.

If an approach was made, the striker may have a tough time saying no to it, given he has previously admitted that it would be a dream to represent Boca.

  1. Well that ain’ happening. To avoid capital loss Milan needs to get at least 26.5mil and the most expensive transfer they had was buying Velasco for 9.6 mil. Before that only Riquelme in 07/08 season for 12Mil.
So unless Milan are stupid enough to spend 32mil a year ago and then selling him for 1/4 of that I’m saying its just a crao rumour

    1. the worst thing is that on paper Nkunku and Gimenez shouldn’t be struggling to this extent…

both have what it takes, but they are missing something…

maybe 3-4-2-1 might be the key? for double-pivot, we have plenty with Rabiot, Modric, Jashari, Ricci and Fofana. Rabiot has also played in advanced role.

Leao and Pulisic would go back to their preferred roles and Nkunku will have people to play around (he creates chances from behind not dribbler of high caliber nor finisher). Santi also will play more of the classic N9.

which leaves 2 more attackers in and RLC out.

        1. Sure. you don’t have to take a shot at someone every time you disagree with them…

I think exploring ways to get better returns on investment is not as stupid as you’re trying to reframe it. Milan can’t/shouldn’t go drop 60M on another striker this January. So what do Milan do? Stick their thumb up their bum and hope leao and puli don’t go down for an extended period of time. Or is your big brain answer spend a 100M on “somebody” who offers guarantees? So Mr smarty, which should Milan do to improve the attack?

          1. “you don’t have to take a shot at someone every time you disagree with them…”

            That’s rich coming from you🤣

          2. Simmer down Ted I only go after you because you are some sort of anti-fan on here to kill everybody’s joy. Besides you fired the first shot a couple seasons ago. So typical of you and your incel brethren. Talk s**t then play victim when ppl talk back.

        2. yeah cause Fofana and RLC have contributed so much…

we have 2 spots out of 3 midfielders working:
          Rabiot/Ricci – Modric/Jashari – Fofana/RLC

having both Pulisic and Nkunku at the same time would increase our chances in counter-attacks

  2. Nkunku has no excuse. Gimenez when he arrived a year ago had an instant impact and his g/a ratio to minutes played was a very promising stat. Since beginning of the season he has been playing with the ankle problem he is taking care of now. Even without goals his impact on the field is felt positively , the team plays better. Now just imagine him coming back will be like when he first arrived. You’ll all see, Santi is him. Nkunku no. Although 2nd half of Torino game shows he has potential , still not that down

  3. My number one concern with both these players is how easily they are dispossessed and go to ground. Italy is a physical league and there is no benefit to falling to the ground every time you’re touched

    1. He is born in Argentina and could have chosen to represent them. If I was him though I would be hesitant to already return back to South America at such a young age.
