Mike Maignan has still not penned a renewal with AC Milan, and Chelsea have opened talks over potentially signing him.
Like his compatriot Theo Hernandez, Maignan’s Milan future is in doubt for two reasons. The first is the fact that his current contract expires in just over 12 months, and the second is that his inconsistent form in 2024-25 has led to a previous renewal agreement being frozen.
Nonetheless, there has been a change in leadership in the Rossoneri ranks with Igli Tare the new sporting director and Massimiliano Allegri the new head coach. The latter in particular is believed to be keen on keeping the Frenchman.
Chelsea begin Maignan talks
However, without a renewal and with that deadline lurking like a time bomb, other clubs have begun to take note of the opportunity to land Maignan, particularly in the Premier League.

According to Matteo Moretto, Chelsea are targeting the former Lille man and there have been the ‘first contacts between the English club and Milan’ for the French goalkeeper. The London club are looking for an upgrade on their No.1, having had issues with Robert Sanchez.
Maignan’s contract expires in 2026 and a possible renewal with Milan is at a standstill, the journalist adds. Now, we must see if the approach from the Blues unblocks the situation, or if his exit is concluded rather quickly.
Fabrizio Romano states: “Chelsea approach AC Milan to sign Mike Maignan as new goalkeeper. Mike Maignan has still not signed new contract at the club and Chelsea are now aware of the situation. He’s always been high on Chelsea list with clubs in talks, decision up to Milan.”

Caspita!!! There’s rebuilding and there’s starting from scratch, lads! They’ll be no one left by the time this CWC nonsense rolls around.
Sure thing pal. Maybe trade him with Moisés Caicedo plus cash will be good for both party
They are selling Rejndiers, Theo, now Maignan and posibly Leao to Buyer too… Litterally all of our good players will be gone. I told you from the start, Redbird is destroying Milan.
People here doesn’t seem to bother, or maybe not the right word to say. People see it as a rebuild
Except for rejndier
The rest couldn’t muster up magic during big matches… totally destroyed Milan in some. Milan lost this season due to lack of leadership in the team and too many lazy players
Mike made up for his mistakes at the end of the season. But this season was a mess in all levels, and i have mentioned that before. Starting with hiring Lopetegui, then just back up since the fans protested, then Fonseca a couple of weeks before season start, just fire and get a couch who didn’t have his type of players. I mean how can players be motivated without any clear ideas or communications. If all the star players are leaving, I’ll tell you Pulisic will be one of the last ones to depart
All of this players actually have good stats. You think Milan would have done better if instead Leao we played Chuk as a starter or Sotil? Or instead of Theo and Mike we played Bartesagni and Sportielo as starters? Think again.
Your implication that sales are motivated by profit is complete rubbish, as the fact we’re now in debt shows. There’s no European football and in the cases of Mike and Theo, their contracts are expiring. If they left for nothing next year, you’d say the management were useless.
Your opinions about football in general have been rubbish. It is amazing how people who have been so wrong in multiple occasions come back with such confidence thinking that this time they know something. You went thru so much mental gymnastics to defend Redbird and now here we are. From scudetto contenders to 8th place lol. Just shows how much you actually understand this subject.
I’d rather hold onto Reijnders, than Mike and Leao.
Mike made a lot of blunders last season with the biggest in CL. Torino can be Donnarumma. But get at least 40-50 millions.
You guys relax. It’s not the end of the world if Magnian leaves. The worst has already happened which is Tijani.
However, let’s not push the whole thing on Redbird. The pressure is also coming from the players: they want to a certain pay rise and champions league football, which Milan can’t offer for next season.
Look at the whole picture before passing judgement
Mike is the only player I will feel so sad for if he eventually leaves this club.
Theo can be sold as he was the one who requested that;
Reijnders can be sold, I’m suspicious he could be a one season wonder like Zirkzee. Plus we are getting enough money for rebuild from his sale;
Leao is a very fine player who every opponents focus on like they did with Mbape at PSG, selling him for huge price and replacing him with a good winger (not necessarily better than him) will make get our opponents confused with where our attack will come from.
But Mike!
All those listed replacements listed are very far from his level, not even Svilar of Roma. But I understand that we don’t value whatever treasures we got until we lose them.
Leao
