CM: Cardinale working on managerial role for Ibrahimovic at Milan

AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is keen on offering Zlatan Ibrahimovic a managerial role between the boardroom and the first team following his retirement, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato, the RedBird Capital CEO is starting to make some drastic changes to the club and is clearly taking a more hands-on role.

That started by taking the decision to sack technical director Paolo Maldini and sporting director Frederic Massara. It was a decision that took many by surprise and has supposedly angered much of the playing squad.

His next big move could be to make an offer to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who announced his retirement from professional football after the final game of the season at San Siro.

Whilst he is ready to make this offer, there is a belief that Ibrahimovic wants more time to decide what his first endeavour will be after retiring from football.

  1. lol, guy is such a snake it feels gross being an AC Milan fan right now… feels like my 2 decades of support has been really tested right now.. Cardinale seems like a guy with an inferiority complex and feels like a villain. gtfo of this club. Such a bad vibe around this man and his dirty money. Go back over seas and gtfo. This type of poison is ruining calcio and the spirit of the game dies like this.

    1. I’ve been supporting Milan for 30 years. Firing Maldini is not going to change that. Cardinale’s ownership is not going to change that. Dirty money? News flash my dude, every billionaire’s money is dirty. Do you think Berlusconi was a saint?

      1. Berlusconi at had the money to spend on to buy Van Basten, Gullit, Sheva, just to name a few.

This Cardinale guy and Redbird could NOT even cough enough money to buy Milan and had to borrow 300 millions, some reports about 5-600 millions, from the sellor, i.e. Elliot Management. He is now desperately in need of the 100 million Milan earned in CL to pay his loan.

        1. True, but Berlusconi used Milan for political purposes and never turned it into a viable modern business despite all the success on the field. He pumped money into it each time he ran for PM of Italy and when he was banned from politics he sold out to a shady businessman who was much worse than Cardinale or Elliot. At least now Milan is being turned into a viable business by massively increasing revenue and eliminating debt. BTW businesses take out loans for things all the time even when they have the cash on hand. I do it too. I never buy a car with cash for example, when I can get a loan at 2-3% because I can invest my cash at a higher rate.

        2. Apparently this cardinale guy didn’t even know what or who AC Milan was until 3 years ago. Only until after he bought the club did he find that we have 7 Champions trophies. He was even surprised to find that out. This guy doesn’t care one tiny, little bit about this club. I don’t see a very bright future.

      2. i like how you tried to one up me by supporting milan for longer hahaha. come on man, hopefully you have something else in life to hold your hat on. man online kids are so strange

  2. Brilliant move _ I was hoping for this. Ibra would be the perfect link between management and the squad – this is the perfect way to calm down some of the worried players in the squad – Very nice!!

It wouldn’t surprise me if Ibra already knew about this before announcing his own retirement.

    1. LOL. here comes the PR spin to take the attention away from the callous nature in which they sacked Maldini. IBRA??? LMAO. ya that is exactly what Gerry wants: An OUTSPOKEN TRUTH TELLING individual that is unafraid to speak his mind. Cause that worked out so well for Maldini. I can see it now. A match made in heaven – Cardinale and Ibra LOLOLOLO

    2. Of course, I actually want Ibra to be among the team and board management, Just as Javier Zanetti was retained by Inter. I expect Milan to do same with Zlatan because his motivation and others thing will help the team grow.

  3. Furlani standing there next to Maldini knowing they were going to fire him the next day (photo). So awkward.

    1. Happens all the time in the real world. Have seen it first-hand and cannot be avoided when someone is sacked. The majority of the time the decision has been made well before hand so nothing out of the ordinary.

  4. It was time for Maldini and Massara to go. They were brought to steer the team in the right direction. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
It’s was obvious that Cardinale was going to do this in my opinion. I would’ve done the same.

  5. Zlatan will be welcome.
He advocated for Vlahovic and Amrabat but the managers had other ideas.

Zlatan is a legend, let’s wish him well, Milan is Milan, Milan is not Maldini.

    1. Well said man. I didn’t hear Maldini didn’t want Amrabat or Vlahovic but wouldn’t surprise me. All the best to M&M anyway and let’s move on.

    2. You know that Vlahovic was sold for 81M?

So now I advocate for Milan to buy Mbappé, please give me Maldini’s former position.

      1. You still don’t get it, that we have a transfer budget of 50m doesn’t mean we can deal above belt.

The Vlahovic deal was paid in 3 instalments. Now that’s the kind of creativity I expect from our managers in order to sign proven quality rather than one season wonder from an unproven league.

      2. Instalmental payments is what I’ve been advocating for from my darling club, it is a good strategy to sign Moussa Diaby(RW), SMS, Amrabat. Thuram(CF) & Kamada(AM) (free).

Then watch how good our team becomes.

  6. Won’t work very well.

This will bring Cardinale back to the same spot.. Not being the man with the biggest pipi in the room. LOL AKA.. Zlatan will get fired next year. lmfao

  7. Zlatan won’t accept it, Cardinale knows he messed up firing Maldini fans are unhappy players are unhappy too so he needs someone loved but with authority to bring back pace but at same time to be his puppet, Zlatan isn’t that type of man who would kiss someone s *** to get a job.

    1. “Cardinale knows he messed up firing Maldini”

I doubt that very much. In fact, I would be shocked if he regrets making the decision. This didn’t seem to come out of the blue based on how the meeting reportedly went between the two.

      1. Which report? Cause there are conflicting reports out there. One of the report said Cardinale try to pitch new role for Maldini.

        1. Either way, the decision to relieve him of his current duties had been made beforehand so was likely a considered decision.

  8. Damage control. They are sprawling to save face with fans and players. They should have considered their options and implications of their decision before making the move.

      1. Accounting methods set by FIFA or UEFA? What is Elliot’s accounting method?

It has absolutely nothing to do with accounting methods but rather business policy and which ever way you want to look at it, neither is static. 90% of the world has adopted the accrual basis of accounting, so doesn’t matter when you pay, as long as you enter into the contract, it is already recorded as expenditure. (I’m a professional accountant, I’m speaking from a very informed point of view)

I didn’t ask to be educated why a club can pay for a desired quality in instalments and you just showed your lack of knowledge in what are commenting about.

Did AC Milan do this kind of business in the past? Absolutely yes!
I remember the Bonnuci deal was paid in 3 instalments, I think Fassone or what do you call him handled that negotiation. Also, Milan paid in instalments for Paqueta, (I think 3 or 4 instalments) Leonardo handled that negotiation.

That is the kind of creativity we need right now, we have done it before, we can do it again. We had Kessie on a 2 year loan, enough time to save up for his purchase. The transfer market is a business place, from the strategy to maximise available transfer funds to the contract terms, a lot needs to be looked into, or else we will continue to see our players leave for free when their contract expire rather than an automatic extension provided in the contract terms.

It’s all creativity, when a club is ready for business, it’s not difficult to tell.
        Thanks
