CM: Dest set for Barcelona return amid Champions League exclusion at Milan

By Isak Möller -

Sergino Dest was left out of the Champions League squad for AC Milan’s knockout phase venture and this is a big signal with regard to his future. In fact, he’s expected to leave the club in the summer.

In the final days of the summer mercato, Milan reached an agreement with Barcelona for the loan transfer of Dest. It was a last-minute signing as Alessandro Florenzi sustained a serious injury against Sassuolo, forcing the management to act.

There is a €20m buy-out clause in the loan deal and as reported by Calciomercato.com, the Champions League exclusion can be seen as a clear message in that sense. Milan, in fact, have no intention of redeeming the American international for €20m.

Davide Calabria remains the No.1 choice for the right-hand side and Milan also expect Alessandro Florenzi to be back in action soon. Having said that, the Rossoneri signing a new right-back in the summer should not be excluded.

  1. Yes next summer is very important to bring quality signings. Some of players should be considered to be sold, such as: Origi, Rebic, Saelemakers, Messias, Balo Toure. And these should be released for free: Tatarusanu, Mirante, Dest, Bakayoko, Ibrahimovic should retire. And players on loan should be considered only for discount, like Diaz, Vranckx.
Lazetic, Adli, Thiaw should be send on loan to other teams, and Milan should bring at least 4 or 5 quality signings for next year. Some of them to buy and 1 or 2 on loan.

    1. So we’re selling those for free now because we’re angry only to complain later on that we didn’t get any money from them? Is that how it works here?

      1. You mean for Origi ? We should sell all players without impact, and reinvest. Why on earth we need in squad Origi, Rebic, Saelemakers any more? Milan need to do next step. Next step is every year to sell players who can’t give more for the club and reinvest and risk.
I read how Chelsea promised to help Leao with Sporting debt. Milan must sell Leao in summer, because Milan is financial poor club. Milan can’t afford losing players for free anymore, because money is so important to reinvest.
We can see what happened with Milan this year. And that is all because we lost Romagnoli Kessie for free, and didn’t bring back quality replacement.
Now in next summer, Milan must sell Leao, if he don’t sign and there are many free opportunities on transfermarkt to bring new player.
Next step for Milan is contract handling with own players and transfer market. How to sell and bring new players.
With selling, Milan can reach now maybe 400 million of revenue per year. With that amount of money, you can create such a good team for serie a and champions league.

  2. Yes no chance that we’ll sign him permanently. Can you imagine if we sign the permanent deal for Dest, Diaz, and Vranckx next season? It’ll leave us with 0 or defisit budget.

  3. It makes sense. He isn’t as terrible as most people said. But he definitely doesn’t fit well into the team. I hope he gets an assist or even a goal before the end of the season and we can see him go somewhere he will be happy.

  4. I hope :
    Player out : Tatarusanu,Mirante,Dest,Ballo-Toure,Florenzi,Messias,Vranckx,Rebic, Ibrahimovic (retired),Origi.
    Player in : Dalot,Ndicka/Scalvini,Parisi,Tielemans,Angelo Gabriel,Luis Guilherme,Noa Lang,Antonio Nussa/Zaniolo,Rasmus Hojlund
