CM: €45m Man Utd man has heart set on Serie A escape amid AC Milan, Inter links

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has decided that he wants to move to Italy amid links with a move to AC Milan, a report claims.

A report earlier in the month from La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that the Milan leadership have their eyes on players who can add experience to a struggling young squad and would not require a huge transfer fee.

The paper cited the uncertain future of Franck Kessie (who has been told he can leave, with a €20m price set), claiming that Matic is a possible target to replace him as he would offer ‘physicality and dynamism’ to the midfield, and he could be available for €15m in January.

According to Calciomercato.com, Matic’s future looks increasingly likely to be away from Old Trafford due to his lack of playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They add that the 31-year-old would like an experience in Serie A and seems unwilling to renew his expiring contract with the Red Devils, with the Daily Mail reporting on Wednesday that Inter are frontrunners.

Matic signed a contract until 2020 when he arrived in a €45m deal from Chelsea two years ago (as per the BBC), but the Red Devils have the option to renew his contract for a further season.
