CM: Ekkelenkamp, Bartesaghi and a fixed price – the latest on Samardzic-Milan talks

AC Milan are not giving up on the idea of signing Lazar Samardzic and the latter stages of the window could bring developments with Udinese, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com report, Paulo Fonseca is hoping to welcome both a more defensive-minded midfielder like Youssouf Fofana or Manu Kone plus a more creative player, and this is where Samardzic comes into the equaition.

Some signs might just have come from Udinese, too, because a few days ago the secured the signing of Jurgen Ekkelenkamp from Antwerp, potentially as Samardzic’s replacement. The head coach Runjaic is likely to play him alongside Thauvin in the playmaker roles of his 3-4-2-1.

Even the arrival of Ekkelenkamp, however, has not changed Udinese’s position, who are not willing to give any discounts. They want €20m plus bonuses to sell but this evaluation has already been rejected by Milan, who have tried to reduce the figure by inserting a counterpart.

Udinese have said no to the names proposed by Milan – Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega – with their owner Pozzo wanting a younger player like Kevin Zeroli and above all Davide Bartesaghi. Milan are apprehensive to part with their talents, but the negotiations will continue into the final part of the window.

  1. Give them Chaka Traore.
How come no one wants him?
Some were losing their mind in January when he was loaned out to Palermo in serie B with option to buy for 10 m. They said Palermo is owned by City group, they’ll buy him without problem and in couple years he’ll be playing for Pep in Manchester. 4 months later, he was back at Milan and now he is about to play in serie C.
It’s always a crapshoot with young players. You never know what they’ll turn into.
I like Zeroli, but he is playing in Samardzic’ position. There is only 3 year difference between the 2. If Milan thinks that Samardzic can help them right now, give Udinese Zeroli and get the deal done. Try to insert a buyback clause.
It’s not like Zeroli will be getting any playing time at Milan anytime soon, and he is about to turn 20.

    1. 99% of the people here praise youngsters because…. who knows? A fetish? When was the last time we have a real good player from the academy? Maldini?

      1. Shock!

Fans have a connection to players with a connection to the club.

Next you’ll be saying that 99% of people on here want AC Milan to stay in Milan.

What is the point of the location of the brand, I mean club?

It’s just random collection of individuals who happen to play under the ‘Milan brand’.

        They’re not even that great.

So why not find another brand with better players?

What’s keeping you supporting this particular unsuccessful brand?

        1. Chaka been in the youth system for like 3 years. Idk what connection you think he has? Bought in 2021 from parma

          1. Which is 3 years longer than some newbie.

            It’s not about Chaka.

            It’s about ALL OF THEM.

            It’s about another failed loan.

Another failed transition to the senior team.

We just keep accepting failure seemingly without question.

          2. No it’s not 3 years longer. He was there for 2 years then half a year at Milan then loan.

They fail because they’re 💩. Italian youth system has been going downhill for the last 20+ years. Not just Milan, all clubs. What you gonna do? Whine about it?
Fûck em, buy a French talent and move on..

          3. Italy now have one of the best youth systems in Europe, as we can see with their successes at youth level. What happened 5+ years ago is irrelevant.

      2. because every time we have good youngsters always ended up with loan or sell to another club,, what the youngsters need is stay at the club and train with the seniors and wait for their chance (which the club never give) to play when the seniors either injured or tired.. look how many youngsters does milan wasted on loan or sell early? if club like barca can play 16 years old kids to their senior team then why can we? it’s always the same old boring story to protect the kids blah blah blah..

        1. Banking on Futuro by signing a load of players to block any from breaking into the first team and then sending them off to Serie C?

Futuro will become a dumping ground unless they start creating space in the first team.

And why are you so defensive about all of this?

You didn’t invent Futuro or you’re not making the transfer decisions so why do you feel the need to defend it?

You seem to want to defend the transfer market more than the actual players who play for your team like the club captain who you seem to take great pleasure in slagging off.

          It’s utterly bizarre.

    2. If we take a leaf from Bayerns book, give them 15m plus Zeroli. Insert a 50% resale clause.

That way we either get money out of him in future or we can buy him back at half price.

As you say at 20yo he is probably ready to get some minutes in Serie A. Udinese are good at developing players

    3. It’s always a crapshoot with young players?

Yes, because 99.99% of the best youth players of their generation fail to make the transition to the senior side and there’s nothing to see there.

No need to question why players fail to transition.

No need to question why nearly every single loan ends in failure.

But not when it comes to new signings, there’s no ‘crapshoot’.

If senior players struggled at another club like Pulisic suddenly there’s nuance. A recognition that maybe you need to find the right conditions for a player to succeed.

If a new player struggles it’s the manager’s fault or some other excuse. He’s not being played in the right position, he’s got a big ceiling.

Completely different standards applied to free youth players with a connection to the club over expensive new signings. Higher standards for those closest to the club, low standards for any old randomer who comes in.

      Nothing to see here.

        1. It’s not just him.

          It’s ALL of them.

You’ll note that I rarely comment on individuals’ abilities.

We simply can’t tell because they get so few minutes.

But if we take a step back EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR YOUTH PLAYERS fail.

Even Calabria who most people seem to hate on here and who the club has finally been dislodged by signing a completely unnecessary RB.

None of them are ‘good enough’ and everyone just accepts the fact that Italians have forgotten how to play football.

          ALL OF THEM.

          1. In case you haven’t noticed, Milan is banking very heavily on the Futuro FOR the development and transition into the first team…. oh and by the way, it’s stacked with Italian youth better than Calabria…

What I do find funny is that while you preach for the youth to develop and play for Milan, you also advocate for the broken down Chiesa to join Milan… LOL!!!

      1. Why do u think loans fail? Or better yet why 99.9 % of them do t make it?
It either because they can’t cope with training/loan structure/being away from comfortable surroundings or they just don’t have the talent to make it into the top .01% ie the players you see on your tv screen. They can’t all make it. The system like any other (school, sport, life in general) chews u up and spits you out. Some will survive, some will have great success and other simply can’t cope.
Is the fault of our players on loan the player or coach or somewhere in between. You can always tell who’s going to make it and who wouldn’t. Trust me. I’ve been around enough of a high enough level to see this happening time and time again.
But they can’t all make it just by sheer logic, math and the player themselves

        1. I’d say the main reason is the transfer market.

No other sport has a turnover of players like football and Serie A has one of the highest turnovers of the top leagues.

If a rugby player changed clubs 5 times in 5 years or a tennis player changed coaches ( times in 5 years or a race horse was left in a field for a year or a F1 car was handed to a mechanic doing the job for the first time, none of them would reach the required levels.

These are supposed to be elite athletes but they move around like seasonal bar workers.

Loans fail for a variety reasons:

          a) they’re usually an after thought towards the end of the transfer window;

          b) the player is used as a squad filler at the new club;

          c) the new club is often struggling;

          d) loans last for less than 12 months;

          e) players are put on multiple loans over years.

None of this is conducive to developing elite athletes.

None of the players who have ‘made it’ at Milan went on loan. De Sciglio, Donnarumma, Calabria, Locatelli and Cutrone all broke into the side without ever going on loan.

Gabbia did but he was an accident. He was never supposed to return from Villarreal but was recalled due to an injury crisis. And now he’s being pushed out by new signings anyway.

A more targeted transfer market where a club like Milan only targets truly world class players in key positions where there’s gaps e.g. a DM, would give space to youth players and raise levels by exposing them to genuinely great players.

This is what tends to happen with Real and Barca and what they, and Spain, consistently develop players.

Futuro seems to be making the situation worse because our players are now being dumped in Serie C without any real thought or plan.

    4. AS Roma give up so easily and cheap to Calafiori two or three years ago. I don’t think they are so happy now 😆😆

  2. They joke, right? Bartesaghi is most better player now then Samardzic will be ever.
I hope its just article about Samardzic he not good for big club

    1. Dude is comparing a defender with an midfielder and saying the defender can play better in midfield than the midfielder. Jesus

  3. Samardzic big slow AM that can shoot as well. Basicaly a bit better Pobega. Why not just give Pobega the chance ? Bartesaghu tall young left footed promising defender. Hard profile to find really. Better keep him. Also Casedei best player in the u21 World cup, young, Italian, cheap. Yet Milan show no interest in him. If you want a new mid better go for Casedei.
