CM: Elliott’s green light is awaited – why Mandzukic has made Milan change their plans

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are serious about the potential signing of striker Mario Mandzukic but one key thing is missing, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com are reporting the same as we did yesterday: that the Rossoneri management talked about the former Juventus centre-forward with Giovanni Branchini, an agent close to the striker who visited Casa Milan at the beginning of the week.

The strategy adopted since the summer by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara was to bet all chips on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and, in cases of emergency, on Leao, Rebic and Colombo. But, thanks to still being involved in three trophy races, Massara and Maldini have changed their stance, opening the arrival of a centre-forward.

The idea convinced the management, who have already received the attacker’s approval. Mandzukic is ready, he feels charged and up to a new challenge in a league like Serie A and is attracted by the possibility of returning to Italy.

With the Juve shirt, he amassed 118 appearances with 31 goals in four seasons, raising four league titles, three Italian cups and two Super Cups. In recent days, the Croatian has refused an offer from Besiktas and is waiting for a concrete proposal from Milan.

Milan’s official proposal is awaited, and it has not yet arrived because the green light from Elliott Management is missing. If the sporting side, led by Maldini and Massara, have already given their approval, the decisive ok from the American fund has not yet come. However, it could arrive in the next few hours.
