CM: Gazidis’ own ‘Kansas City Shuffle’ – he deceives Pioli and has agreement with Rangnick

Regardless of various denials from both parties, Ralf Rangnick will join AC Milan once the season has concluded, according to a report.

Multiple outlets are now claiming that the German will take over from both Stefano Pioli and Ricky Massara, ensuing a role unprecedented in Italian football as a head coach and sporting director in one, even if he denies having signed a contract.

A report from Daniele Longo for Calciomercato.com likens the current situation to the Kansas City Shuffle which is referenced in the film ‘Lucky Number Slevin’ and is essentially where you are looking in one direction and they go the other – essentially the art of deception.

It is a similar scene to one that took place last Saturday at San Siro when full confidence in coach Stefano Pioli was confirmed during the final training session before Sunday’s defeat to Genoa.

Zvonimir Boban’s departure and the absence of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara from the game against Genoa ended up creating an alibi for a group that found itself without anything concrete to hold on to.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played lower than his standards and looked visibly, while Theo Hernandez was sloppy. Gazidis, with Saturday’s speech to the team, hoped to maintain a certain type of cohesion but ended up generating a contrary reaction.

Pioli is a single man in command, delegitimised in front of his players. He will go on with pride and dignity to try to end the season at best and he has no intention of resigning. However Longo claims that Milan’s future will be in German, as an agreement with Rangnick has been reached.
