CM: Inspired Jovic continues red-hot form – message sent to Pioli and Furlani

By Oliver Fisher -

Luka Jovic was decisive again for AC Milan during last night’s Coppa Italia win over Cagliari and his recent form has sent a message to the management, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report that Stefano Pioli never stopped believing in his potential, stating after the game: “He has great qualities, he must believe in them even more. He arrived when he wasn’t in good condition, now he’s well physically and mentally, he must insist and continue with these ambitions and motivations.”

His two goals yesterday evening fully demonstrate the potential and technical ability of a player who, in the past, has amply demonstrated that he deserves a top club like Milan, after his form at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Against Cagliari he showed off his footballing ability with his touch to bring down Theo Hernandez’s cross, plus his determination and movement for the second goal which again came thanks to a feed from Theo.

Since the beginning of last month, Jovic has scored the most goals in all competitions of any Serie A player with five. Counting his assist against Frosinone back on 2 December, he has six goal contributions in his last 215 minutes played, an average goal contribution of one every 36 minutes.

Jovic is playing for his future at Milan given he signed an initial deal until June 2024, but these performances aim to convince Pioli on the one hand to give him more playing time in the league too and on the other the Milan management to trust him.

That could mean abandoning the idea of a move for Serhou Guirassy first and foremost. With Jovic playing like this, there is less insistence to try and sign the Stuttgart centre-forward but the pursuit had already become complicated due to the competition from the Premier League and the elimination of the Growth Decree.

    1. Oh don’t be that way.
JOVIC was garbage for years, and terrible at Milan for the first few months. It was high risk.
      Thats why he was FREE!!!!

By some miracle, he is finding some form, let’s hope he can continue

      1. Milan should still get a proper striker in the summer and stop with the geriatric and revival themed ones. Jovic can stay as backup, Giroud is 38.

        1. I think we should wait until summer to make decisions on strikers. Hopefully Jovic keeps scoring. If so Jovic, Colombo, Giroud would be a good roster.
With Camarda also likely to get chances

  1. An out of shape player and still scoring. That’s good thing to have. Bro this is a player you want to invest time and effort in

  2. We can see clearly what lacking from this kid is the mentality. So it’s wise for us to keep maintaining his mentality while he’s on his good form, by playing him regularly. Love Giroud, but in all honesty this might the last season for him in Milan.

    1. You do realize that he leads the team in goals and assists, right? It’s so funny, if it was a 25 putting up those numbers everyone would be raving about how great he is.

  3. Just get so annoyed with some of you fans
Yes I am pleased jovic is doing well ,but don’t write off Olivier giroud..yes jovic scored two goals against Calgary ,but hardly tough opposition.Had Giroud started This match in all probability he would also have scored two goals .
    Olivier should start the nextgame

  4. Jovic is not clinical, Yes he scored some scrappy goal so what, does that make him a good striker? Hell no. Neither is Giroud . Giroud is a bit better but can’t run or beat his man one on one. A quality striker is needed. I hope this will be the last season Giroud plays for Milan.

  5. Glad to see Jovic finding his groove again. Man deserves it, he’s always had potential, but the move to Real when he was first starting to pop off was a big roadblock on his career, that was never gonna be a healthy move to develop. Having him and Colombo next year can be good, maybe one more needed, but Guirassy doesn’t fill me with confidence, he’s almost 28 and he’ll be wanting big wages cuz of the man utd links
