CM: How Lorenzo Colombo can help Milan in the summer transfer window

By Euan Burns -

Lorenzo Colombo’s latest loan spell to Monza has not been one of his most successful and AC Milan could choose to use him to their benefit in the summer transfer window.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com (via Pianeta Milan), Colombo is not impressing for Monza this season and is expected to be sent back to Milan at the end of the season, but at this point, it seems unlikely that he has a long-term future with the club.

A permanent move away would make the most sense, but Milan will try to use that to their advantage. Milan already have Olivier Giroud, Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor who can play in attack and they want to sign a new striker in the summer.

With names like Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee being linked, the Rossoneri will almost certainly try to use Colombo as a bargaining chip so that they can part with less cash for players in the summer.

Having been linked with a Monza player last week, there could be a deal to be done there.

Colombo has only managed to get three goals and one assist with Monza in Serie A this season, which is far less than they would have expected when he arrived given he impressed with Lecce in the season before this one.

  1. He’s been given chances at Monza and hasn’t delivered so I do think it’s time to cash in.

But we need to cash in and leave him free to pursue his career. No more loans. A straight sale so we can continue his career without the uncertainty of being tied to Milan.

  2. As those of us who have seen him regularly have said, he’s far too slow to cut it at a top club. He has a canon of a shot, but his lack of pace makes him easy to mark.

    1. Speed is not everything.

He’s a victim of churn. Another failure by football to develop a player.

Looks like we have a 0% conversion rate for that primavera side as well.

      1. “Speed is not everything.”

That phrase has been said here 1000000 times already and still the majority(?) thinks pace is all you need. Anyone who isn’t fast is automatically useless.
