CM: Maignan shows love for Milan – the background on Chelsea’s interest and asking price

Mike Maignan seems to have made it clear on his Instagram story that he sees his future nowhere but AC Milan for the time being.

The French goalkeeper shared a video posted by the club with some of his best saves of the past season, accompanied by two red and black hearts, demonstrating his love and attachment to the club.

Calciomercato.com report that Maignan sustained a muscle strain in his right calf while with France over the current international break and therefore not the same one that he has problems with before last year.

In the coming days, he will also undergo an MRI to definitively rule out that it is something serious. However, this issue obviously does not condition Milan’s opinions and plans for the future.

The Rossoneri have in fact rejected an €80m bid from Chelsea, and even the Frenchman himself turned down the idea of a move there given that the Blues will not play in any European competition next year.

While nobody at Milan is absolutely non-transferable, Maignan is part of that short list – together with Tonali, Theo Hernandez and Leao – for which a nine-figure proposal will be needed to even bring Moncada and Furlani to the negotiating table.

The report adds that a verbal offer of €100-110m is needed or Milan will simply refuse it immediately. It is a sign that the Diavolo want to keep ‘Magic Mike’ for as long as they can.

  1. Funny how Isak in his SM news yesterday wrote “In any case, Milan have never had any intention to sell him” while Oliver writes “While nobody at Milan is absolutely non-transferable”. I guess they have the same debate at SM that we have in the comment section haha

Very good news though, grande Mike! It’s already a win if he stays and extends. Just concerned by the French national team practice, does Deschamps make him save concrete blocks or what…

    1. It’s not a case of what we are saying as writers, we just relay the news from various sources, some of whom have differing opinions.

      1. Yeah I wasn’t being critical here sorry if it looks like that, I’m very grateful for your work I’m on this website everyday. Opinions are divided these days but we all hope that Milan will be alright.

@Boulden I’m not twisting words. I don’t want to be involved in the comment section war anymore, I have my concerns but let’s judge the front staff by the decisions they will take. Even for 1B I would not sell Mike but that’s only my opinion. Peace.

    2. So if someone offers 150m you think Milan would turn it down? lmao

stop twisting words, it just means unless someone offers stupid money he’ll stay.

      1. If it’s 150m tbh if I’m in charge I’ll take it.

U can buy good keeper for 50m (hard to get one as good as Mike) and the rest can be used to buy new striker, right wing or whatever.

      2. There is no club want to pay 150m euro for GK . It is not as easy as write comment . Even just 100m euro already enough to convince management to sell mike and buy new GK and new striker

        1. Actually that’s why they say Mike is unsellable… that doesn’t mean he won’t be sold but it will take really crazy offer to even consider selling him.

100m will be enough to consider to sell, but it’s not guarantee that Milan will sell him.
