CM: Milan, Monza or Torino – Maldini’s future remains a ‘puzzle to be solved’

By Oliver Fisher -

Daniel Maldini provided some positive signs in the first friendly of the summer but his immediate future remains a mystery, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com write that in setting up the opener for Alessandro Florenzi in Austria on Sunday Maldini sent a message to Milan and to his suitors that he is in shape and wants to shine. The attacking midfielder is ‘one of the puzzles to be solved’ in the coming weeks for the management.

He went on loan to Empoli last season until January and then went to Monza where he did much better, scoring four goals in 11 appearances, but it remains to be seen which shirt he will wear in the 2024-25 season.

The first thing to establish is whether Daniel Maldini can overturn the odds and earn a stay at Milan. The attacking midfielder is working hard to convince Fonseca and was even deployed in a role that is not exactly natural, that of centre-forward, against Rapid.

One of the big signs regarding how Milan see his future will concern his contract situation, considering that the agreement that binds Maldini to the Rossoneri will expire at the end of the season, in June 2025. However, there are no concrete signs that an extension is close.

An exit continues to be the most likely scenario and it is Monza that came forward first to try and get him back, but the report cites Tuttosport who claimed that Torino has tested the waters in recent days with the boy’s agent, Beppe Riso. Torino are a destination that tempts the 22-year-old.

Monza remain ahead because Adriano Galliani intensified contacts and had a verbal agreement with the son of Paolo over a four-year contract. They want a permanent deal for a small fee and would grant Milan a percentage of resale, but they must offload players first.

  1. He is a good squad player with plenty of potential + he is Italian which needed for home grown player quota. Keep him in preseason and give him a fair chance to shine. He has Paolo’s blood in him, if he is 10% like him then he is worthy of Milan shirt.

    1. Giovane e molto forte. Sarebbe da tenere. Ma , considerato i rapporti con l’attuale dirigenza, dubito molto . 9

  2. Just a wild thought, but I hope both he and the coach are crazy enough to try him as a RB. No matter what, he has it running in his veins. It’s not only once I’ve seen him tackling and it reminded me of his father.
If it’s successful, he will be a massive upgrade to Calabria.

    1. Woww, its Good idea bro.. remember how ancelotti change pirlo position and maldini from LB to CB or Pep switch julian alvarez to the winger ?? The briliant coach should have crazy idea…
