CM: Milan interest and a fight for Europe – Torino star reaches crossroads after milestone

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan remain determined to sign a new centre-back in the summer and it is likely that they will go back in for Alessandro Buongiorno, a report claims.

As recall, Buongiorno achieved 100 appearances for Torino on Friday at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona against Napoli , in a match in which he effectively canceled out Victor Osimhen.

Before today’s training the centre-back received a special celebratory shirt directly from Torino director Davide Vagnati, a man who expects to take more calls about the centre-back this summer.

Buongiorno is one of Torino’s prized pieces and last summer he was wanted by Atalanta but the deal did not go through because the player said no. In January Milan tried, but in this case the negotiation never really started because Urbano Cairo said no.

However, the Rossoneri have not given up on the Granata captain: on the contrary, they continue to follow him with great interest in view of next season. The teams interested in the Torino vice-captain could increase after the European Championship, in which Buongiorno may be a starter for Italy.

Torino will not put him up for sale and hope to keep him, leveraging the great bond that Buongiorno himself has with Toro. It is the team which he has supported since he was a child and which he has played for since football school.

Yet, we must also take into consideration the legitimate ambitions of the 24-year-old, who would like to compete in European competitions. At the moment Torino are in the running for eighth place, which – if Italy were to finish the season in the top two positions of the European league ranking – would mean qualification for the Conference League.

Vagnati said on Friday: “The future of Buongiorno? It depends on what we manage to do, if we were able to raise the level and go on trips abroad every now and then it would be easier to keep him.”

  1. sia just equalized for milan u19 against real madrid in the youth league a rather splendid one juggling it through their defense 🙂

      1. I only watched from the second half as i had initially forgotten about the match but they showed it in danish tv so got it from there and onwards 🙂 Funny enough tomorrow the senior team can only be watched on a streaming service 😀 We could have avoided the penalty shootout though as camarda really should have scored as he pretty much was alone with their keeper but messed it up a bit.

Hopefully we can go all the way and win the tournament as we will meet either mainz or porto in the semi finals who is playing right now and porto is in front 1-0 currently.

        1. It would be a huge achievement!

Seems the Primavera lost some consistency with so many players training at senior team.
Hopefully they get back their best form and win.
          Sounds like Real dominated today.

Quality group of players we have coming through. Not all will make it but you can make a strong case for most of them

          1. Indeed.

Yeah they have had a not so impressive league season but it would be great if they can get their groove back.
I only saw the second half and in that one i think milan was the best with a small margin as it whent a bit back and forth,

Only a few will probably make it at ac milan but unless you are ajax or a minor team from a smaller league then thats basically how it goes, I do like several of them though.
