Ahead of the summer window, AC Milan are scanning the market for opportunities, obviously with the imminent youth revolution in mind. Therefore, the Rossoneri have been linked with many youngsters.
According to Calciomercato.com, CEO Ivan Gazidis’ right-hand man Hendrik Almstadt will now also have a say on the market. In fact, he’s continuing the negotiations for Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, who has impressed this season.
As of now, the only safe centre-backs in Milan’s squad are Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Gabbia. For Mateo Musacchio, Simon Kjaer and Leao Duarte, the future is uncertain and thus Milan are looking at signing Ajer to reinforce the squad.
The price tag of the Norwegian international is around €18-20m, per the report. The Rossoneri have been following him for several months and are trying to beat the fierce competition, which is easier said than done.
This week, the defender changed his agency to SEG, the same as Robin Gosens and Memphis Depay. Ajer’s goal is to make the big leap in his career this summer, wasting no time amid the heavy interest.
In addition to Milan, Leicester are also pushing to sign the 22-year-old, offering him the opportunity to play in the Champions League (by the looks of it) and reunite with the man who launched his career, Brendan Rodgers.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested and the game remains very open, with Milan hoping that they can deliver the defender to Ralf Rangnick.
