CM: Milan keen on €25m Bologna midfielder as ‘maxi-operation’ emerges

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are already making plans for the summer, with some movement expected, and a few names have been mentioned. In addition to the Bologna leaders Joshua Zirkzee and Thiago Motta, Lewis Ferguson is also on the Rossoneri’s list.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan have set their sights on both Motta and Zirkzee to rebuild the teams, as Stefano Pioli is set to leave the club. Since Alexis Saelemaekers is also on loan with the Rossoblu, this could make room for a ‘maxi-operation’, as the report states.

In addition to the duo, though, Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio also appreciate the midfielder Lewis Ferguson a lot. During the January window, when Pioli was asking for a midfielder, they brought up the name to Giorgio Furlani.

Bologna bought him from Aberdeen for just €3.5m and his price tag is now believed to be no less than €25m, with a contract expiring in 2027. Milan are monitoring the situation closely, knowing that a maxi-operation could be on the cards.

It should be noted that the Rossoneri have been keeping their eyes on Ferguson for quite some time. We interviewed his agent back in March about the interest, but he didn’t give much away. But one thing is for sure: Milan scouts have watched both him and Zirkzee plenty.

  1. Please Acmilan needs a solid attacking pure midfield not a central midfielder so that we can score more goals and to help our attackers at least sign 2 or 3 like ardan guller and sarmadzic lazar

    1. We are the second highest scoring side in the division, but we’re tied for most goals allowed amongst the top 12 clubs. We need to prevent goals, not score them.

    2. Milan need a:

      1) forward (at the very least 1, 2 if Giroud leaves)

      2) a holding DM midfielder to slot in beside Bennacer. An actually talented one, someone skilled at winning the ball back and pushing through the lines. Reijnders is a sick joke and Musah just isn’t talented enough. Adli isn’t a DM or talented enough to play in the pivot against top teams.

Milan needs to revamp their entire midfield badly. Poor decisions were made last year by Moneyball MONCADA, and now we’re stuck with a horrendous midfield.

      Pre-Moncada: Tonali, Kessie, Bennacer, Krunic

MONEYBALL MONCADA ERA: Bennacer, Reijnders, Musah, Adli

      which one was better?

We do NOT need an AM right now.

  2. This season out of 35 games all competition we only have failed to score in 5 games, and we have scored 2 or more goals in 22 of those games.
We have scored in 21 games in a row !!
That is not bad at all for a team who SUPPOSEDLY have a goal scoring problem.
We have drawn AND lost in 10 games in which we actually have scored, including 7 games in which we have scored 2 goals !!
We you draw and lose 7 games despite scoring 2 goals in each (including the last 2 defeats), the problem is not the attacking midfielder or the attack, but the defense and the defensive midfielder.

    1. I’ve always said we didn’t have a goal scoring problem even before this season. Our best performances overall in a season were always the ones where we had good defence/conceded less. The scoring mattered less. And it’s usually the case in Serie A that the best defence wins. I don’t understand the obsession with getting more goal creating mids. At season starting said I dont mind conceding as long as we are scoring more than the opposition. But even that we can’t do. We scored two goals in our last 2 games but still lost. The problem is defence, specifically midfield.
