CM: Milan’s summer plans complicated as Origi is determined to stay – the situation

Divock Origi has no intention of leaving AC Milan this summer and that might force the management to change their plans, according to a report.

According to Calciomercato.com, Origi wants to stay at Milan for the 2023-24 season because he feels a responsibility to repay the club after a disappointing debut season in which he scored just two goals in 1186 minutes.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were the directors who put their trust in him last summer, signing him from Liverpool on a free transfer when he had a pre-existing injury, and the Belgian wants to show what he can do.

For this reason Origi let his agent know that he does not intend to evaluate the proposals that have arrived, especially from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

However, at the moment Milan do not consider Origi part of their plans for next season and it is no coincidence that they have tried to offer him to West Ham in a possible negotiation to get Gianluca Scamacca.

Selling him would have a financial advantage too because any transfer fee would be a pure capital gain and they would shed him €5.24m gross salary that he earns in his contract until 2026.

Origi believes that the physical problems are behind him and that he can prepare with the rest of the squad from day one of preseason, having previously not been able to do so until August. He wants to prove that he is worthy of being at Milan.

Origi’s decision not to move – together with the difficulty in selling Junior Messias and Ante Rebic  changes the plans for Milan who now might not be able to make a big investment for a No.9. If Origi stays, Milan will take a low-cost option or a loan.

  1. Just leave already… We don’t want you in Milan ,neither Messias or Rebic… These guys are so bad that no clubs want them… When I think we played a CL semi final with these amateurs

    1. Rebic scored more than a few goals in the Scudetto and the season before to get into CL. Yeah, he was bad last season but he deserves some credit anyway…

      1. Rebic Scudetto season was actually worst than last season.
Last year 3 goals, 2 assists
Scudetto season 2 goals, 2 assists.
He has been awful for a while

        1. He played maybe 800 minutes last season due to injury. Goal or assist every 200 minutes, that is a bit worse than Giroud career average of 165min per goal. 😂😂 Still, his both goals brought points directly and he definitely made an impact in the Scudetto, if he didn’t score those 2 Milan wouldn’t be 1st. Not to defend him too much as he has been bad but grouping him with some players that never did anything is stupid.

          1. 100% the disrespect and blatant hate rebic get is unreasonable to the extent that his contribution to our team since joining is being stupidly compared to the likes of origi n co

  2. Haha, everyone cried that M&M could not sell the players…Selling tonali is not a great job…selling deadwood is the challenge ..

    1. Yeah, and usually you will read a comparison like “look at Chelsea or City”. And they mostly sell the players they paid 50-70M for under 25M. Not that hard.

    2. And who brought Origi and decided to give him 4m per year? The reference to M&M not being able to sell players is to Kessie, Calhanoglu and Donnarumma. All had markets. Finally, you ignore the fact that it’s the player refusing to listen to offers.

        1. Yes, Kessie refused to leave Milan 3 times. Monaco, Tottenham and another offer was in during his time, they were accepted and he refused to leave. Even in January before the summer where he left Tottenham offered for him but he refused, said he will sign the contract and ended up showing what kind of a person he is. His fortune and lack of playing time at Barcelona is exactly what he deserves.

      1. Yeah, literally your last sentence is the reply to your theory. Calhanoglu declined to leave when Milan signed Paqueta, he had multiple offers. Kessie also. I guess they didn’t expect Donnarumma to be a snake but he is.

  3. Plesae don’t leave let them feel the same thing we are feeling as fans then, since they are not willing to do the right thing and make the fans happy, up AC Milan❤️

  4. “He wants to prove that he is worthy of being at Milan.”

Worthy? He never was and never will be. FFS, so tired of these bakayokos you can’t get rid of. Worse than herpes or other similar diseases.

    1. I agree with a lot of your opinions on here and even the things I don’t are fair discussion, but suggesting that a player is worse than ‘a disease’ because he isn’t willing to cancel a contract is a bit low IMO. We can all be better than that.

He’s well within his rights to stick with Milan and try. Of course I don’t believe the “wants to show Milan fans what he can do” – Milan offered him the contract, as long as he trains and makes himself available to play then he’s fulfilling it.

  5. “Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were the directors who put their trust in him last summer”
Only those two put their trust in him? What about the others before they signed him? Pioli? Moncada the Belgium specialist? Furlani? Anyone? Ok,.just this two. Kool 😎

  6. They can bring Pulisic for 20, 21 is spent od Rlc, if they bring Chukwueze for 25, that all is 66 million at lest. Let’s say 70 million. Only for three players. That is all covered with Tonali sale.

So they can bring 30 to 50 million more without sales. So it could be Reijnders and probably 1 player on loan. They writing about Morata. So no room space for Musah and Milan will maybe sale Rebic or not even him and Caldara I hope.

  7. Origi, Rebic and Messias need to leave ASAP by any means necessary even if Milan have to use the mafia to help them.

We cannot afford to keep these players next season.

  8. Terminate his Contract
If you ca not do that, Do not committ anorher mistake by considering him real or existing player in the squad, make him as if he were not in the squad.
And never change the signg of two fowards.
Then never line him up the hole season.
And do not comiit another mistake by signing of Morata,Scamacsa and some like them

    1. “Terminate his Contract”

It doesn’t work like that. They’d have to pay extra to “buy out” his contract. So it’s cheaper to let the contract run out than “terminate it” immediately.

  9. I guess Giroud will have to work overtime again. Or put origi as second striker. His long shoot is quite good as seen last season.

  10. Put him on the stands, ADL style…. and you will see how fast he will want to go, even if his value (whatever it is right now) will go down lol

  11. Unpopular opinion, but I’d five Origi another season. He came injured last summer and hadn’t been able to play much. He can’t be any worse than this season. 4mil a year was definitely too steep for him, but at this point just take a gamble on him for another year. He’s likely better than Morata having already spent a year under Pioli.

    1. Yeah I hear what you’re saying but the dude actively avoided the ball. Hopefully your right but last season he looked worse than Pobega
