Alexis Saelemaekers wants a new start in Spain and is hoping that a deal will be agreed between AC Milan and Real Betis, a report claims.

Before reading the update below, it is worth checking out our latest Substack piece on Saelemaekers as well as Divock Origi and Charles De Ketelaere, which has some exclusive info on their respective situations.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Saelemaekers has never been so close to leaving Milan and there are decisive days coming up.

The Belgian has known for months that he is not a part of Stefano Pioli’s plans, and the arrivals of Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic have meant that he now even runs the risk of remaining out of squad lists entirely.

Saelemaekers wants to fly to Seville to start a new adventure with Real Betis, with whom he already has an agreement in principle over a four-year deal.

Milan are not standing in his way and instead are waiting for a first official offer from the Spaniards, who have made it clear that they want to try first with a loan offer.

Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio expect to obtain between €8-10m from the sale of the Belgian, a figure that would be added to the pot available to go and sign a new striker.

  1. Saelesmaekers plays with conviction and heart. But it’s true with the number of RWs we signed he won’t have a chance here and it will be best for him to part ways. Betis isn’t a bad team at all. They got sixth place last season. Europe League.

So he could likely help them out a lot as he has European experience.

  2. He could always return to working at the Milan Bistro at the stadium. I’m pretty sure his old job is still available at the salad bar.
