AC Milan director Geoffrey Moncada is planning to mend the rift that has been created between the Rossoneri and Monaco so that Youssouf Fofana can finally make the move he wants.
As reported by Calciomercato.com, Moncada has worked out that Monaco are being deliberately obstructive when it comes to Milan’s pursuit of Fofana for a very specific reason.
Milan have had a contract agreement in place with Fofana for the majority of the summer and Monaco were not impressed with the tactic of speaking to the player and his entourage to find an agreement before they had opened talks over the transfer fee.
The Ligue 1 side has been sticking to their valuation of €35m, which Milan are simply unwilling to meet for a player who only has one year to run on his contract and clearly wants to leave.
West Ham did meet the valuation, but Fofana rebuffed their interest because he wants to sign for Milan. Manchester United are also now on the scene which is a serious concern.
Milan’s latest bid was €17m including bonuses but Moncada may soon build on that. Milan hope that €25m including bonuses, with the fixed part not going above €20m, will be enough to sign the midfielder.
I think if 20M + 2-3M in bonuses + 10% resale is more than fair. Like I don’t understand what Monaco expects?
I think we are being extremely fair. 20+5 million in bonuses and a resale deal? He’s in his last year of his contract. The player really wants to join us too. If he didn’t he would be in the Premier League by now.
And as far as speaking to the player first that’s normal. You have to see if he’s interested then you talk to the club.
You can talk to him before making an offer to the club of course, but you can’t just offer him wage. It’s just unethical. I think the old management did this with Hamsik too, that’s why Napoli didn’t cooperate and the Mr. X deal collapsed.
They expect that an English club will see “we can get a French international for under 30M” and make an offer that he and his agent find acceptable. They might well have a point.
15m and that is.Why you think he is good for more money? I look at Monaco last year his performance and nothing special i see there.
I will bring Rabiot but you dont want gave good salary to players and that is.
Are you a better player than him?
Those english c*nts running the football by throwing money like there no tomorrow.
Italian Football Association must create a new plan to compete with them
Not gonna happen anytime soon.
FFP has been the death nail in Italian football coffin not only does it prevent world class players and coaches in there prime coming to the league it’s also the perfect excuse for certain investors not to spend.
If you watch a lot of football let’s say In the UK the common message is Italian clubs have no money and have had there day and that’s how certain powers that be want it.
I can clearly remember when Ac milan where in there pomp and a real threat to epl amongst others and uk broadcasters HATED IT even back then they were obsessed with Milan s and Italian football demise.
Sadly they have got there way and as things stand the future is looking grim for Italy.
As for any future investment it seems unless it comes from the USA there are MANY OBSTACLES along with threats from uefa among others regards spending big .
Monaca are pissed, and rightfully so.
First of all we approached the player before the club, that is a sign of lack of respect.
Second, we have been lowballing them WAY too much, starting with 12-14- million and a season pass to the metro.
To those who say we should just wait till next season and get him for free, there are no chance. He wants a much higher salary, sign-on fee and commission for his agent. And we all know what ACN feel about that.
Too bad, perhaps we could have got him for 18-22 million a month ago.
So does every other team. It’s nothing new, they’re trying to milk the situation.
Look at Juve and Todibo, they sold him even though Juve made prior inquiry and negotiating term with player. That my friend is messed up. EPL team is ruining football
United are done with all other businesses after the double signing from Bayern now their only focus is a DM, meaning they are going all in for a DM
Either Moncada close this in the next few days or open the door to get fried again by United
It would have been nice to avoid breaking the relationship to start with so that no mending would be needed.
As it stands, I’m anticipating that ManU will get the player. We could have signed him easily a month ago if the managers had talked to Monaco first and had avoided an offensive lowball first offer of 12M.
I don’t think they want a relationship, they want cash
There is no reason to increase the bid. Just to bid against yourself. If they want to keep him they got the same sanctions as Milan in 2022. Have fun wasting money…
Man U pretend interest to put pressure on the targets. There are enough midfielder available to gov around
Monaco are absolutely brain dead if they think he’s worth 35 mil rn. West ham are stupid enough to overpay, but fofana doesn’t wanna play in lower midtable mediocrity. He’s worth 20mil max rn given he’ll be free in 6 months. If we can’t get him now, we can easily leave him for 6mo and get someone like Amrabaat for less than 20, and come back in January to sign him free
Don’t see a reason to pay 25m€ for him…. Last year of contract, 15m€ + bonuses max. 5m€ is enough…I don’ think he will go to Man. United, first we play in LM… and there are more France players and I think he know Milan is better place for his career… If they don’t accept it now, they accept it in last day of mercato because next year he go for free..
I’d really like to know your stance if we were in this situation with Theo or Mike as they step into last year of their contracts. Let’s assume they don’t renew their contracts with us and Bayern or Madrid come with 12 millions plus bonuses.
Wouldn’t that be a fair offer for a player in his final year?
a fair offer is not super relevant. A player in their last year has way less value to a club. They can pick their new team and refuse to re-sign with anyone else, making them almost have no value beyond what the team is willing to accept for letting them go instead of one more year of their service.
Letting a player get to that point just isn’t an option. If Theo isn’t going to re-sign and wants Madrid, then management cannot wait until next year. If he doesn’t renew,. I’d expect to see him sold at some point this year. Same with Mike.
First Theo and Mike are much valued players then Fofana…. and second… yes, if there will be some kind of problems with new contract, if it will be his last year and somebody want to pay for Theo 15-20m , I think Milan will accept,if Theo don’t want to renew… because it is still profits for management…
But it’s about the club… Like Atletico, they buy Galagher for 40m€ from Chelsea 😀😀 and it is his last year of contract for Chelsea great profit, but (in my opinion) for Atleti too much money for player with one year… no other club pay this, no Italian club, 40m€ is his normal price, not in last year…
