CM: Pellegrini strongly admired by Montella; contact expected

Lorenzo Pellegrini is one of the most highly-rated young midfielder’s in Italy.

Having grown up in the youth academy at Roma, the giallorossi let him leave two summers ago to Sassuolo for a figure of around €1.25million. He was wanted at Manchester City on the instructions of Patrick Viera and is now attracting the attentions of some of Serie A’s biggest clubs with a value of €10 million.

The 20-year-old had discussions with Napoli last summer before the vesuviani opted for the Croatian Rog. Discussions between the two parties took place but with Roma having the first refusal to buy him back for €8million this season and €10million for next year, the player dubbed as the “New De Rossi” stayed at the Neroverdi. Juve’s excellent relationship with Sassuolo and Marotta’s and Paratici’s continued interest in the youngster could mean important developments next summer.

Calciomercato.com has learned that Milan tried to bring Pellegrini to the San Siro in July, and that coach Montella gave instructions to Adriano Galliani to make him a priority.

There were also discussions between the Milan CEO and his Sassuolo counterpart Carnivale and now the new-look team at Milan of Fassone and Mirabelli may return in January for further talks.

Pellegrini has the right profile for the rossoneri and gave a further display of his abundant talent in a splendid display against Crotone last Sunday. One thing is certain however, Montella is a huge fan of the Under 21 international.
