CM: Pioli would be at risk without Champions League due to four major faults

The future of Stefano Pioli as AC Milan’s head coach would come into question if a place in the next edition of the Champions League were not secured, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com have picked out the several faults that Pioli must hold his hands up for, starting with the fact that he has not been able to manage resources between the Champions League and the league in the best possible way.

The second is that he has not found a tactical solution to avoid embarrassment against the teams that come to San Siro with the sole aim of limiting the damage, playing deep in a low block to frustrate.

The third is that he has forgotten Yacine Adli and other players and instead he has insisted too much with some players who have clearly not been up to task since the beginning of the season.

Last but not least is the rotation. Against Cremonese, Empoli and Bologna, Pioli made at least seven changes to the starting line-up compared to the previous game and just expected the results to come.

This Milan side cannot afford to keep fielding their reserves with a place in the Champions League at stake. Without it, the future of Pioli could also come into question again.

  1. Maybe we could convince De Zerbi to come. Pioli has his qualities but he’s too stubborn, too rigid. Yeah, he’s good at managing important games, but those are not the ones that win leagues. We need a younger coach who will at least be more humble.
De Zerbi has his own style and philosophy, not just ‘pass it to Leao and get out of his way’.

    1. You really think De Zerbi will come hahahahahahahahhaah. Man his Brighton would slap us up and down the field. Brighton is on something and have a plan and money. He will never join us in Europa league

      1. I do.
Firslty, he was raised at Milan, so he has an attachement to the club.
Secondly, Milan are one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, so any manager would at least consider joining. We are in the semifinals of the CL. When do you think Brighton will get there? I’m betting on never.
Lastly, we’re in a good (or at least improving) financial position. We can afford to pay his salaries and also to invest in players, probably at the same level as Brighton. The difference is that in a few years, the situation will most probably change: we’ll have a new stadium and increased income, while Brighton might be in the second or third league, as they have been in most of their history.

        1. De Zerbi is getting paid well, has a 13m release clause, and is already in the echelon of managers being discussed as candidates for top 6 EPL clubs should any one of them decided to change managers. It’s highly unlikely he will come to us, at least in the near future.

  2. In all fairness to Pioli the management did nothing to help him with the players they got last summer.

Pioli doesn’t have a squad competitive enough to challenge for the scudetto and the champions league.

Charles de Ketelaere, Adli, Vranckx, Bakayoko, Dest, Ballo Toure, and Origi were really poor choices given the players Milan could have recruited that were on the market.

You can’t get this many signings wrong. Like what the hell were they thinking especially given the stats of these players. SMH

Milan will finish outside the top four. I don’t see lazio, Juventus and Inter losing ground now with less games to play.

Milan only hope is to win the Champions League and that’s mission impossible but with a little luck they can do it.

    1. thats true. he was milking the squad for more than they were worth and we got a skudeto but now, what we see now is the real worth of the players Milan have.. I wonder if a new, none wc, coach can get better results with this set of players.

      1. What squad? youre thinking starting 11. And yes they are. The whole team, not so much. There si depth in def, but mid and atk, NOPE.

    2. CDK where on form and half of europe wanted him, only under the stuardship of Pioli have he looked like this.
Adli was bought the year before and loaned back, not only that but he haven’t been bad at all when given chance’s.
Aster we knew was one for the future when we got him on loan, he should have been introduced with minutes at the end of games now thrown in the middle of the season expecting him to perform when the team is under performing.
Thiaw didn’t get a chance before anyone got injured and have barely played, Some good performances some bad, with consistency we will probably see a lot more of the good side.
Ballo Toure was a back up choice, we where suppose to sell this summer but he was injured through the marceto.
Dest was better than this prior to his arrival, But he came in as a emergency option only because Florenzi and Calabria was out with injury, and we only had Kalulu..

    3. “You can’t get this many signings wrong. Like what the hell were they thinking especially given the stats of these players. SMH ”

You can also turn this around. How the **** hasn’t Pioli managed to get ANYTHING out of the newcomers? If Milan get half a dozen new players and none of them has any positive effect there might be some fault at the coach as well. Look at the players M&M brought it a 2-3 years ago. Look how they’ve done.

      1. Yep the type of coach Milan need is one who can develop players and clearly Pioli is not that. I don’t know how Origi sees the pitch over Rebic. Rebic is really bad and still offers significantly more than Origi. And our coach can’t see that? On this blog alone there are probably 3 or 4 people who can get more out this team than Pioli can…

  3. I am very sure, another coach will get better result than Pioli because they will give a change to Baka, Adli, Vranx more and using better formation like 433 since the beginning. not this 4231 plotting duo midfield Tonali and Ben. With Tonali and Krunic as duo, our midfield has been stronger.

  4. Pioli’s time has certainly come to an end. He did way more than I expected. Every season over the last 3 years he got the team better results. Came into a mess, turned it around in season 1, 2nd place in season 2, champs in season 3.
He is definitely a limited coach. Our success was based on high press and counter attack. That worked for almost 3 years and it stopped, but not because it was figured out but because Pioli’s bosses started letting his most important players for that system leave without properly replacing them. Both of our best midfielders Kessie and Hakan were lost on free and still have not been replaced.
The failure of this season is much more on the management than on Pioli. If Pioli has taken us as far as he can and has to go, then the management has to go with him. The failures of the last 2 summer markets played a huge role in the failures of this season.
Our squad is much weaker today than it was when Pioli took over in the fall of 2019. Pioli doesn’t negotiate players contracts, he doesn’t lose players for free nor does he sign players. Thats M&M.
If one is at risk, all 3 of them should be at risk

    1. No Pioli is figured out, hasn’t changed his tactics to fit the players on hand, doesn’t learn, is predictable. I mean everyone on this blog knew exactly how the game was going to play out tactically. The players do share some blame as does management but this squad is definitely capable of top 4 and to miss, it falls squarely on the coach

      1. Right , falls squarely on the coach.
Is it the coaches fault that brahim Diaz somehow managed to shoot that whide open header over the goal or is it Pioli’s fault that Kalulu tackled his own teammate allowing Okereke to be 1v1 with Maignan?
There are instances like that in every game.
Pioli can’t continue to make miracles and field low quality players while his bosses keep losing his best players

  5. That’s how you guys made noise about Hauge. Where is he now ? Pioli shouldn’t be solely blamed. Our second team are all crap.
He has his own mistake don’t get me wrong Maybe Milan is calculating that Juve will eventually be dropped from European qualification

    1. ” Maybe Milan is calculating that Juve will eventually be dropped from European qualification”

LOL. Yeah. That’s what prestigious clubs do. Instead of taking matters into own hands they’d rather wait and see if others get punished by the sporting judges. Sound plausible. 😀 😀 😀 😀

  6. Gbenga nobi lie awon werrey management there can’t sign players good ones waiting on miracle and luck there will be a glimpse of hope if we can just win lazio this weekend and maybe Juve Inter drop point as well then it’s kinda balance. Poili tried all he could as a coach he has his up’s and down no lies this two match lazio and inter will most likely define the season

  7. The fact is we dont have a good bench, if you want to fight in UCL and seri A u must have very good bench, and consistency, pioli dont have consistency, and milan dont have good bench, i didnt blame pioli for his decision, u cant play with same 11 every match, u can play CDK, adli vrancx but the fact is we dont have a chance with this bench
