CM: Pioli to build around Reijnders amid Musah arrival and possible Krunic sale

The results suggest that AC Milan have struggled in preseason, but there have been positive performances from certain players including Tijjani Reijnders.

Calciomercato.com remarks that Reijnders is the most positive of the new signings as he has been bright, dynamic and creative thus far, while he potentially should have some assists to his name too.

Reijnders, used as a left mezzala in the new 4-3-3, already seems at ease and ready to relieve Yunus Musah of most of the tasks that would usually fall on the shoulders of a regista in front of the defence.

The American was on the pitch yesterday for almost an hour against Trento, and whole there will be a settling in period it does seem that with Reijnders and Ruben Loftus-Cheek either side he will be given time to adapt.

Then, changes could come from the mercato too. Rade Krunic is wanted by Fenerbahce and he would gladly join his compatriot Edin Dzeko, but there is a wide gap between the offer put forward and the demands of the Rossoneri.

Nicolas Dominguez is being studied to replace Krunic, who will not renew his contract at Bologna which runs out in 2024 and who would gladly accept the European stage offered by Milan. He could be a more natural No.6, allowing Reijnders to thrive.

  1. I think Loftus-Cheek and Reijnders have been great upgrades, but if we don’t upgrade our midfield entirely it’ll be a waste.

We can’t possibly have someone as skilled as Reijnders playing to someone as useless and mediocre as Krunic.

What was the point of this project if we don’t replace all weak links?

    1. While I had others in mind, Dominguez is just the obvious pick now to upgrade our team. And since his contract ends in a year, negotiations won’t be difficult. So Why continue with mediocrity?

    2. a squad is built gradually, not in 1 fking window. You are thinking like the PSG directors, just buy every player and pray it works out, see how well that works for them?

      replacing whole midfield is stupid

  2. Dominguez is another central midfielder. I understand he was a holding midfielder previously, but is he willing to go back to that position? and his stats aren’t that dissimilar to Krunic…I agree with getting a holding midfielder but from what i can tell, this is not a big upgrade unless the price is right…
