CM: Scamacca keeps Milan on hold – why he badly wants Roma move

By Oliver Fisher -

Gianluca Scamacca is one of the names that AC Milan have been linked with in their pursuit of a new striker but it seems their enquiries did not get very far.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Scamacca has returned to London after his holidays and he is getting ready to begin his preseason preparations with West Ham, but hoping to join Roma as soon as possible.

The two clubs continue to negotiate, with Roma wanting a paid loan with an option to buy while the London club are aiming to make it an obligation to buy.

The fact that West Ham will receive over €100m for Declan Rice might soften their stance on Scamacca a bit, even if they did pay nearly €40m to sign him from Sassuolo last summer.

The striker has held off on any other negotiations – even Milan had come forward as per the report – because he wants to return to the Italian capital where his mother lives, with whom he is very close as well as with all the rest of the family.

He hoped to do so with Davide Frattesi, as the duo dreamed of returning to play together in the city that saw them grow. However, the midfielder chose Inter.

  1. We can get him with loan but need obligation to buy , that will convince west ham . Loan 5m euro with obligation to buy 25m euro

  2. If he really wants to go to Roma, let’s drop this case. We know this front staff can’t win mercato battles against other teams. For now they only got Sportiello who agreed to come previously, Loftus-Cheek who was followed by nobody but we still paid a lot since Chelsea knew we are desperate for a midfielder and we got money after Tonali’s sale, and Romero a free agent who played three or four minutes in Serie A. Solid work from the front staff so far.

    1. Palace, Fulham, West Ham, Wolves and Newcastle were all enquiring about Loftus-Cheek, selling to rivals would’ve worked out for them, but Ruben wanted the challenge as Tomori convinced him to join us. Considering him and Tomori have both been in the Chelsea academy since they were children he took the opportunity. Loftus-Cheek has more England caps than Tomori, and I’m pretty sure he’d want to build on that considering he was part of the England World Cup squad in 2018. Perfect move to reignite his career.

      1. Finally someone who knows what he is talking about.
So many people complaining about RLC, without having a clue…

        1. What clue do you have? He’s really not a safe signing. He’s a guy barely playing, with no experience of Serie A, who’s mostly described as “physical”. I hope he’ll thrive for us, but it’s a huge bet and there’s nothing sure about him.

He’s clearly not Milinkovic-Savic, a Serie A star and a key starter for his national team for years.

      2. No it wouldn’t have worked for Chelsea, they don’t want a former player with a point to proove joining their direct rivals, gaining points in standings that could cost them revenue streams. A sale outside of the league and their domestic cups keeps a player who would be ultimately motivated to beat them away for a minimum of risk to them. That peace of mind is worth the money, especially they know he had no role in their team and has been a liability. He just hasn’t been up to scratch and he was money being burned on their accounts for nothing. The convenience of him landing for us is a factor we should have insisted on to lower their demands.

    2. If he finds his previous form and stays healthy, that is a massive IF, RLC is a good deal. Anything less was a wasted opportunity to use the resources we spent on him to acquire a more reliable option. High risk move. Given his recent performances, it is a long shot. Given they had to sell him, they could have brought his price down to half and have the remaining amount contigent on his total minutes played with performance bonuses. We did Chelsea a favour by acquiring him and we should not have provided financial garantees for a player with so many quedlstion marks that cost them a lot to have on their bench doing nothing next season.

    3. Win mercato battle for what ? Last season we win mercato battle vs leeds for CDK ,his price go overprice and nothing special from him in club & euro u21. Marcus thuram ? His agent said if ACM want to get his client they must surpass IM offer 6,5m euro mean ACM must offer 7m euro include bonus , is he worth become highest paid player in ACM ? . Frattessi ? From beginning player already choosen IM ,look at his interview want to play alongside barella , want to play on 3midfield 352/433, we already got pobega , he is as good as frattessi if play on 433, why wasting fund to pay sassoulo over price ?

  3. PASS on Scamacca for 35-40M. overrated. One season he scored 16 goals. Hasn’t done anything since. He’s another Destro, Borriello, etc….players that shine in small markets but not in big ones. If he wasn’t Italian we wouldn’t be interested
